So last night I decided to see how balls out powershifting would be in my car (the tires are now fully broken in). 2nd gear got the car sideways and the shift into 3rd got a huge howl out of the tires, amazing what happens when you're shifting while in the boost.

I have a stage 3 ported and polished eaton with a 2.93 upper amd a 4# lower. jlt cai, fluidyne he, kb bap, ngk tr6's, mafia, BF idlers,o/r mac prochamber, magnaflow cat back, steeda tri-ax with adjustible mgx handle, lfp super cooler,315/35/17 nitto 555r drag radials. BF irs brace. 3.2 alt pulley, siemens dieka 60# fuel injectors. i think thats it.
I also have a steeda firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant that i havent installed yet.
oh ya i also have and xcalibrator 2 with a custom dyno tune, my numbers on the dyno were really low compared to what i expected and what pther similar cars are making.
i dont power shift but it is rare for me to chirp the tires in third. must be puting down some good tourque at the bottom of 3rd
The Vortech doesn't put out the torque numbers the KB, Whipple etc does but it shows that if you hit the gear fast and hard enough even with drag radials you get a healthy bark out of them. Might even be better with a short shifter, who knows.

whipple HO SC,FRPP springs, Pypes mid mufflers, Che adj. LCA, hurst, 4.10's, 1 piece DS, spec stg 2 clutch. Accel coils 12.52@117.6mph so far with a 2.01 60 ft time(pre shaft, coils, clutch).
I don't know how you went sideways with DRs on second gear. maybe dirt on theroad or cold DRs? cuz with the torque i make and withbaldass nittos, if they are hot enough, when i powershift to 2nd it hooks great, lifts the nose and keep going, the same for 3rd. and hell, even on 1st gear punch it hooks great, no going sideways.

I actually like this shifter, I had T5's for years and ask anybody who owned one or owns one to go from that to the shifter in the S197, I think they would agree. If you're not missing shifts, why mess with the works?
Seriously though, I'll probably go with the MGW.
