But are ugly as hell to me as well, however, the Camaro looks 10X better than the Malibu. I'd say what I think the Malibu looks like...................but I'm not in the mood to get banned.

Well read the whole thing, sucks what happened to you. Just as I told you, old cars don't have all the advantages of new cars, hense why they put the newer stuff into them. An old V8 is good for only a couple of things.

1.) Bragging rights, in other words just saying that you have a classic muscle car.
2.) Building serrious drag cars. Carb systems, while outdated by modern standards, make excellent drag cars, but aren't the best for a DD.
3.) Being a money pit as they're guranteed to eat up every dollar you earn.

As we've all stated, I hope this is a lesson to you to buy a new car and not an older car. You're not, and I do mean not going to find a daily drivable car that's reliable for under 10K if it's older than 25 years because serrious restoration has to go into them to keep them going safely and effeciently.

+1 ive been driving the 6 hitter around instead of the maro cause it just needs sooo many little things that it costs wayyy to much to fix and i can afford it, basically, its going to sit in my driveway as an "if i absolutely must go somewhere and there are no other cars here" ride until my 18th bday when i get my N/A cobra

Well, i have come to find, that it is rare to find a 70s camaro with out power brakes... I think that there was also something wrong with the brake lines, i had to pump that thing like there was no tomorrow. What do you all think about the Notchbacks? Could i get a decent amount of power out of em easily? I mean if possible id love to get a carbd engine just so i can trick it out and finish high school with those bragging rights  there are several kids at my school with 70 and older cars camaro, 68 mustang and a plymouth something... So it would be mainly for bragging rights lol.

this is true.  LT1s are pretty even with a new edge GT.

Yea they're like 265 stock, but newer camaros were underrated from the factory.  I know LS1 power ratings from the factory were at the wheels, so most people dont know they have 300+ stock, im not sure if thats so for LT1s or not.  I think an LT1 Vs. new edge the camaro takes it, and for 4500 for one with less than 100,000 miles thats not too bad.

Im still in the market for classic/notchbacks/edge GTs and Camaros, Notchbacks are fox bodies, i just dont like the hatchbacks/verts... Also Im having a hard time finding a newer camaro with a V8 in my area thats not a 91 and older.

Finally, the best news of my life. The insurance company found the owner of the car to blame for the damages. His negligence with the brakes and knowingly let me drive the car so its on his head not mine.

Most cars you get for around that price are going to require a little TLC ... You can definitely get a cheap 5.0 and fix it up for around that price.

for $4500?  you can get a pretty well built fox for that with low miles.  they have all out drag cars for $6500 that are fox's.

Fu** High School man. Just for wanting bragging rights for owning a 70/80's camaro you had to pay $1,200. Not knowing it didn't have power breaks is fine, but, now imagine all the money you're going to spend on other things you don't know of yet?

Well I just kept reading this thread and was happy to see you didn't have to pay for damages. Now don't let it happen again   - I second the idea of buying a 5.0.

Lol id have to rob a few banks to get a new camaro. BUT I took what you all and others are saying into consideration, im going to wait til august to get a car. After my birthday and several months of paychecks i should have a couple grand more to buy a Camaro/Mustang in better condition that needs maybe some paint and stuff. But come to find out the guy didnt have insurance so I had to pay for everthing in the long run.... I called him and told him the law says the Liability follows the car and that id pay the lady for the camry if he would give me his insurance info and pay me back later. He told me he took the coverage off the car to sell it.. SO hes letting OTHER people drive his car without insurance which is pretty damn illegal. When I asked him to help me out with the cost since hes liable and should have known the risk of driving the car without insurance... He told me to "pound sand" and not contact him again... so I was like wtf does that mean? I had my dad call him and he didnt answer so my dad left a message and the guy hasnt called back kuz he was too much of a pussy. Now my dad (whos a cop) is getting Everett PD to serve him a ticket for about 1000 dollars. I was going to take him to small claims court, but my dad says the guy makes less money than i do so it wouldnt be worth it.. SO my dad said he n my step mom might beable to help me out in august get a car from a dealership, and i told him 4th gen Camaro V8 or New Edge GT and he said it was a possibility, but i am still looking for a Muscle car only im changing my price range. The higher the price the less thats wrong with it is what my dad says, so ive found a couple buddies who are experienced and own 2nd generation camaros, my uncle is a mechanic, and my grandpa used to race down in florida and portland, he had a 1967 Chevelle with a 350, so he knows his stuff.

lol learned what exactly, ive learned alot of things over the past week... good and bad haha. (only good thing in this situation is that this "accident" wont raise my insurance.. since i have none... and i didnt get a ****ty overpriced rolling block of iron lol)

I cant decide tho, all the  Camaros and edges i find are either 6s or expensive, and i dont want to deal with EFI anymore... My grandpa took one look under the hood when i had my mustang and said he would never touch anything that had sooo many components and wires and all that crap and i agree, I want to beable to wake up saturday morning and go work on the car... I mean not fix it up persay but mod it, ya kno wake up, install this or that on the interior or under the hood. I mean its not just for bragging rights that I own a bad ass muscle car, its saying that I put together something by my own hand... I mean yeah i could say that for my mustang.. since it only had a cai lol. Plus I want to scare small children with a screaming exhaust system.... Little kids are around this area in hordes now that school is almost over... its like a friggin locus migration.. they go somewhere trash it and go somewhere else.. the gym is packed.. the popular grocery store hangouts are full of kids the lake is always busy so I cant go fishing... wow... I digress... I just want a muscle car for reasons of my own, not to impress others as much as myself with what i can do.
