Hey i bought my 04 mach 1 a little over a year ago and i do love it. but recently i have been thinking about moving to a 07 mustang GT. I have always liked the body style of the new stangs more so than my style which would be a big reason why i would switch. Only problem is i cant decide if its worth trading in somethign thats a little more unique and also a bit faster or so i have read (have not lined up next to one at a light personaly).my mach is completly stock at the moment too, so i could use that extra 3-4 thousand dollars i'd spend on a new gtto mod the mach but really wouldnt even know where to start. any thoughts?
you do have a rare car but for me personaly i like the new body styles. stock for stock a mach 1 would be close. in utah stock GT's run low 14's to high 13's. I know a guy with a mach1 with some mods and only does 14.5's
I would get a 07 gt and put a FI in it. then it will be fast!
I had a 2004 Mach1 i traded in for a 2007 gt. My mach1 was faster with the mods i had done to it. The biggest reason i traded the mach1 in was cause it was hard for my to afford putting premium gas in it. I do love my new 07 But i miss my mach1 very much. If i could do it all over again or go back in time i would have kept my Mach1!! PM me if you gonna any questions on mods to your mach1 or w/e
I would hold on to the Mach 1. It was only available for 2 years and is much more rare than a 07 GT. I test drove a Mach before I bought my 06. I loved the Mach, but wanted a new car.I also like the Mach styling just as much as the 05-07.
And you can't compare the Mach to any other 99-04 mustangs (except cobras) as far as power. The 4v heads make a huge difference.
I think the biggest difference is the new mustang isn't on a chassis from the 70's. I've only driven an 02 GT, and I thought the thing sucked compared to the new ones. I would still maybe consider a terminator, but would easily choose the new, better looking GT over a Mach. If you wait a year or two, they might even bring in a new Mach 1.

$3-4K of bolt-ons will definitely make your Mach 1 much faster than a stock 07 Mustang GT, andpossiblyfaster than even a heavily modded N/A one. Mods incl. a CAI, tune, catted or O/R H or X pipes, LT headers, gears, &UDP's for starters. On the other hand,itwill not look as good as an 07 GT to you.
IMHO, you should at least take an 07 Mustang GT for a test ride, and then compare notes. Yes,the GTwill probably feel slower, but you may also feel that itrides and handlesbetter. And for only about $600, you can mod the GT with only a CAI and a tune that will really wake it up, and enable it to match or possibly beat a stock Mach1.
Tough decision.
