So lately I've been thinking about a lot of other cars. two  are really starting to look pretty good. The VW GTI/VR6 and the Mazda Miata MX - 5. I guess you could say I'm in "Car Limbo"

I guess I want a change form the slight muscle that I have now. Has anyone driven either of these in the newer models like 2000 up. are they fun to drive, fast/zippy, comfortable.

So the question being should I get one of those and give up my stang and if yes, why and which one, and if not why?

I need some piece of mind either way I go...

I can vouch for that. The kid at my school with two gay dad's has one of them.

Yeah... Unless its a Monster Miata and strickly for track running, dont get it. I can vouche that a VW VR6 is about as bad as the Miata... All the girls at my school drive em... Cant you find REAL cars? that dont have wrong wheel drive?

...ok... in my town no body really drives gti's... lik eI see one or two once or twice a month. And Miatas are rear wheel drive.

But I was also thinking about an SRT-4. I used to have a Neon and that was really fun to drive, so I can imagine a turbo charged one.

un-biased opinion here!

i LOVE a cars. i LOVE miatas. am i gay? hell no. i have an appreciation for imports and euros as well as my mustang and family of Fords. i will always remain loyal to Ford and the mustang, but i would love to try out other stuff. you guys are sounding very ignorant because the GTi and Miata will both hand your asses to you n a road course, and with the right tuning, on the drag strip. all the while getting better gas mileage and actually having interiors that match their price.

that being said, i wouldn't want a miata as my sole means of transportation. they just are not practical. hell i hate my mustang for that reason. i can't haul sh*t in it, and it is even worse with my sub box. and that makes it a b*tch since i have to move back and forth from home to college a couple times a year.

but seeing the car that you have now, i just can't see you affording either of those two cars or an SRT4 unless you put everything you make into the bank. even stepping up to a 99-04 V6 or GT would make a BIG difference in your satisfaction with Mustangs. i absolutely hate SRT4s though. . but i respect them because they are fast as hell and easily tuned.

if you do have the money for a new car, i would look into a used SVT Focus (2003 or 2004 with the Euro Package: Recaro heated seats, HID headlights and different wheels) or a Mazda 3. even a used WRX or Forester XT (the turbo one with the same engine as the WRX. they have a small, but faithful following and i have seen some insanely modded ones that are just plane SICK!).

I can't afford a new car but I'm good at shopping for cars and have great haggleing skillz. So I can manage. Plus I have some money put away.

First off... I'd rather drop dead then drive any kind of Focus. The wrx's are nice but it's impossible to find one with decent milage and a good price. I mean average of $18,000 and 40,000 miles for a 2001 is just CRAZY!!!

If I get another car it probably won't be another Mustang. Don't get me wrong, I love mustangs and they've been my favorite car scince I knew what a car was, but I just want a change... something with a nice interior, fun and easy to drive, small-ish, fast-ish... you know.

Everyone I knows tells me I have a really nice car and not to get rid of it, or I'll regret it. It's really hard to even think of getting rid of it too, I would have to find a car I fell in love with, like I was meant to drive it. Half the reason I made this thread was hoping to get talked out of it... but not with stuff like "they are gay" or "I don't like them" or "Every time a man buys a miata god kills a baby." Like actuall reasons and facts, or experiences. I was hoping someone had driven a couple of them before and could tell me how they are.

I don't know.

Did you just quote yourself? Are you allowed to do that. Isnt there some rule against that? Anyways.

If you want something else, then buy something else. If were to get a small compact car it would either be the older RX7's like the on in the F&F or a CRX.

wow. do any of you actually research the cars you recommend? an older Rx-7...have fun fixing stuff. a CRX? have fun living if you get in an accident.

and you are so quick to dismiss the Focus. well that just shows your ignorance as well. the SVT Focus was always raved about by magazines, and described as the "poor man's BMW M3". the only reason Ford dropped it was because it didn't sell very well, and that is because gas wasn't $4 a gallon when it came out and America wasn't ready for the revival of the Euro/Japanese hot-hatch market that is beginning to thrive now.

seriously though performance wise a miata would be great but it is a chicks car and their are other options
have you looked at a toyota mr2 or a honda s2000? both handle well and have 50/50 weight distribution
if your over 6 foot tall forget about both of these cars
mazda speed 3 would be fast and compact but roomy

as mentioned befor the svt focus would be awesome

my roomate had an A4 and had nothing but mechanical problems with it.  he had it for 3 months and had it MAYBE a total of 2 weeks.  told them they're buying it back from him for what he paid for it.

i'd get a DSM of some sort.  you can get one cheap as hell and make it haul some ass for not much more money.

Miatas can be quick, but unless your Asian or a big fat guy with a Hawaiian  shirt, you will look gay...thats just they way it goes.  But they are a very nice roadster.  Fcuk a VW.  If you want a different choice in cars good for you.  Im pretty sure my next car won't be a stang
