Default ignition dilema

when i turn the key to the crank position, it wont click the solenoid, but I can manually turn on the car with a screwdirver so i know the solenoid is good. any ideas? is there a relay? or maybe a fuse? is an 89 vert lx 347

No, the problem is probably the solenoid. If you cross the terminals and it cranks does not mean it is good. Take a small jumper wire from the battery side terminal to the small pigtail from the switch, If it works then then something is messed up in your switch or the wiring from it to the solenoid. If it does not work with the small jumper, then the solenoid is bad.
