So, what the hell are CMS tags

Its the serial number tags that are rivited on the core support under the hood and on the dash in the center. It is what you need to have to have an authentic Shelby and not a poser car. Its to prevent some idiot from trying to convince you that he or she has a Real Shelby and not something they just threw parts at and said look, i have a Shelby......

I think the Shelby GT is a nice car!  BUT...for that price tag, I'd rather purchase a GT/CS

Shelby GT is nowhere near as nice looking as vintage GT350 or GT500 and it does not compare to the new GT500 in performance or looks. It means nothing to me or many others that the air kit and Shelby logos etc were added in Las Vegas.
The GT500 on the other hand is deserving of its name and heritage with the aggressive front end and 500 HP powerplant.
I would never trade my GT in on a Shelby GT but a GT500 at MSRP, well that would interest me!

Have been lurking on this site for a while, but I had to respond to this comment. The Shelby GT is not a car for everyone, just as the GT500 is not(we almost bought one, glad we didn't). Limited edition GT500 just shy of 11K 07's.The 07 Shelby GT, 5700 built. The Shelby GT can be ordered tp the individual's liking, brakes, S/C, wheels, gauge pods, hood, brake ducts, etc.Where as the GT500 is very limited in options.I think the GT500 needs to be lowered(like 40th anniv. and Super Snake). Don't get wrong  I like the GT500, but wanted a more unique vehicle. When we go to shows  I know there's not going to be other Shelby GT/SC's.You can have your Shelby GT built to be quite unique. As far as comparing to a GT 500 we have found at the shows that people like the Shelby GT, we have yet to be beat by a 07 GT500. As far as the old Shelby's, I agree there's nothing sweeter than a primo vintage Shelby GT500 and GT350, with paxton s/c. I also might add the last show we went to Ponies in the Park, 150 Mustangs, old and new Shelby's grouped together, 3rd place 68' GT500, 2nd place 68' GT350 w/paxton s/c and 1st place 07' Shelby GT/SC. This isn't the first time we've beat out old and new. This car can hold its own. The comment we here most is that car is BAD A$$. This car has show and go. A couple of pics below and a link to the last show.

I drove the White/Silver Shelby today. I just can't seem to justify the 10K tag over a GT Premium for $2900 worth of Ford Racing parts, and CS's nameplate. I'd love to have one(because of the looks & the fact it's far less common than GT), but I just can't seem to pull trigger!

$38K...

For 29K I could get a loaded GT and put 9K into it, and pretty much clone the Shelby GT (with the exception of CS nameplates/badges).  I could also turbo or whipple charge the thing and end up with 140 more ponies to boot!

I think their should be a rule about coming in the Shelby section and criticizing the car.  To me that shows no taste.  I absolutely love the Shelby gt and if you regular people want to talk about it then kiss my ass.

It's like the forum for all intense purposes, never moves forward with anything. Just the same ole redrick. Thats why i used to come here alot and now it has trickled to a once in a while peek. It just gets to stupid with the same ole same ole...........

I agree with you Ed.  I think Blackhawk should go w/ the regular GT and clone it.  That makes much more sense.

It just goes to show you that, In his case, There is no passion for the name or the package as a whole,  The "Complete Package" is what its all about.

On another note ilmor,

I am no longer the only guy in town with a Black SGT.....It's ok though, Super nice guy got his today and he was grinin when i ask him his CSM#........

For all the people asking "Why" spend the money on a Shelby...go to your local magazine store and pick up the new Shelby magazine...open it up to the back page and look at the chart that shows values of the shelby's from the past and of the future.  They state that after just 20 years the car is worth a value of $40k and worth double that after 40 years.  Now if you can project yourself forward 40 years and you look at the value of a regular GT.  Well, actually all you have to do is look at the prices of a '68 Shelby GT vs. 68 GT.  There is no comparison.  So, in retrospect if you are looking for a car that you are going to want to mod and drive the hell out of then you should probably go with a standard GT.  However, if you are planning on keeping the car for long term enjoyment or even as an investment...there are no alternatives to a Shelby.  This includes Saleen and Roush.  I'm not saying Shelby's are better cars than the previously mentioned, but I think it is obvious that in 20-40 years all the Shelby owners will know they made a wiser decision.  I am a Mustang fan thru and thru and like them all, but people should give credit where it is due and this time the credit is due on the Shelby.

I disagree. if you are buying a car to gain money, or make it worth more 30 years from now by not driving it, you have toomuch money and probably don't care anyways.

If you want a Shelby, buy a Shelby. If you want a Mustang GT to mod and make faster, do it, but don't bitch about Shelbys. I get tired as well, even though I have only had my Shelby for a week, of seeing all the posts of how "Shelbys aren't worth it, you can buy a GT and make it faster for less".

Great. You can't afford it, so buy a Mustang GT and leave the people who bought and love their Shelbys alone. Thank you.

what I'm gassing on is how much money they end up spending on modding their GT. Just throwing on a supercharger will set you back most of the price difference if you factor in the real labor costs.
But what amuses me is that so many people just seem to add the same parts. They get the same CDC chin spoiler, ducktail spoiler, Foose rims, Nittos, Eibachs, Flowmasters, CAI & SCT2... but don't do what I consider real customization. Like adding whole new body work!  See the photos of the guys from  Automotive Dezignz for an example of what I consider real modding.

So it's kinda like how all those women who get the Botox injections in their faces and lips all look alike!
