Wax: trouble with multiple coats
I've tried a combination of wax products and techniques. I never get the results I want from multiple coats. I remove the wax with clean microfiber towels by hand and also try with my random orbit polisher. The wax comes off, but I am left with smudges that look like finger prints. For instance, I put down a coat of Meguiars cleaner wax on Friday and Gold Class on Saturday and the Gold Class did not leave a deep shine that I wanted. I ended up going over entire car with detail spray. The instructitons for the Gold Class say wax whole car, then wipe whole car. It was a humid day. Does it take lots more time for wax to dry when more layers are applied?

RE: Wax: trouble with multiple coats
some waxes have bonding issues with other waxes
does it leave "streaks" that look oily? |
RE: Wax: trouble with multiple coats
Did you take the Meguiars cleaner wax off before applying the Gold Class paste wax.
Get some of Justin's Wet Glaze and Wet Wax - obsessivedetail.com. Try that and you'll get a beautiful deep red Mustang |

Do I have wax buildup? I notice it more on my hood than anywhere else of course because of the black. |
RE: Wax: trouble with multiple coats
try applying 1 section at a time opposed to the whole vehicle only so the wax wont dry up into the paint. Black requires more work and time.

Thank you for suggesting Obsessive. Have heard lots of good comments about Poorboys too. I have a garage full of products, but I wouldn't mind spending the money if my search for perfection is over. My perfect world: cleaner/polish/glaze twice a year and carnauba whenever feel like it, every weekend if I'm in the mood. |
RE: Wax: trouble with multiple coats
Im not calling you blonde but you stated that you applied wax to the whole entire car before buffing off. So I only suggested that you work a panel at a time is all.

if it was me, i'd clay all your wax off and rewax with your favorite wax. this is my favorite wax to date http://www.autodetailingsolutions.co...uct_g12711.gif |

Margarita Girl-You should give my new line a try. I would go with the Light Polish followed by the Wet Glaze, then top with the Wet Wax. This will make your paint really deep and wet looking. I guarantee you will be happy!

RE: Wax: trouble with multiple coats
Sorry, the response came across as if I didn't take off the cleaner wax before applying the Gold.
I did go back and just do the hood again, but still got the streaks.:( |
