Default Feeling stupid

Hey I am new. Just stumbled upon the site tonight and i was just wondering. I recently got a2007 Mustang V6 automatic and i LOVE it! unfortunatly the first thing thing that happens is my husbands friends bust my butt for getting an automatic and a V6... everyone has been telling me that i will live to regret the fact that i got a 6 instead of an 8 and that its "pointless" to geta mustang if you aren't going to get a stick.
So just wondering what the rest of the ya'll mustang owners thought about it.

Well you are in the V6 sections so I don't think many will say its stupid. Its a great car and can have lots of fun with it but hey what do I know I'm a stupid V6 owner and love the car. Enjoy it, lifes to short to worry about regret.

don't worry about it. people will always bust your balls (in your case ovaries ) about having a 6. as long as you're happy with it, thats all that matters.

i love my 6, even though its a 5speed. i'd only trade it in for....dare i say...a camaro. nothing else could get me to trade my car. i get a lot of crap from my coworkers. the IT guy is a chevy guy and the other is a v8 mustang owner. not the new one.

i have yet dealt with mr. IT (i wanna keep him happy in case i screw up my computer) but i took the other one down he's stopped giving me crap

Of those who are busting your butt over the V6 and automatic -- how many of them own a Mustang themselves?
I'm very happy with my car, and usually hear great compliments. The only people I have come across who have an attitude that it is "only a 6" are those who don't have a Mustang at all. The owner of the detail shop where I take my car says that it always attracts attention when he puts it out front on the line, more than most of the cars he does.

Personally, the automatic has annoyed me enough to go looking for a stick. It's not that it's a bad transmission - just that I've driven standard since I could drive and don't care for automatics. You can tell your friend you can go 0-60 in ~7 seconds.. I'd like to see his NA V6 do that..

Let your husband's friends know that the 2007 Mustang V6 is (according to Car and Driver Magazine) the FASTEST car for under $20,000.

Check out the link below for their comparisons......pretty impressive I would say!

First - WELCOME TO MF!

Don't let a few rude comments take away your fun. The 4.0L V6 Mustang is a great car. An aftermarkettune (using a hand-held tuner like SCT) and a Cold Air Intake (CAI) will wake them up alot, and they will also reduce throttle lag and firm up shifts in an automatic. There are several sponsors (and non-sponsors) who offer package deals, and it is money well spent (about $550 +/-) IMO.

Best of luck to you!

Ive owned a V6 automatic... Honestly, I am MORE impressed with the V6 than I am with the GT. When you drive a V8 powered vehicle, you expect raw power right? Not when you climb into a V6 powered car... However, the V6 stang gives you that... way more than you expect... Anytime someone pokes at you for getting a V6, line it up with them... they'll shut up when your waiting at the finish line...

The V6 is a great car yeah the V8 is a muscle beast but really who needs 0-60 in 5 secs instead of 7 when the only thing waiting for you is yet another red light?

If you do drag racing or something like that, a V8 is an obvious choice, but when I see all those GT drivers everywhere in my city, where they have absolutely nowhere to enjoy the power the V8 gives them, well they're the ones I consider "stupid" for wasting money on an engine they don't even need =p

Both cars can get you well within the range of a very very very salty speeding ticket too, so there too I don`t see the need for a V8 ;P

All a matter of perspective!

P.S. I agree however that stick is a lot more fun than automatic but if were stuck in traffic morning & night, I'd rather drive an auto!
