Hey,

I have a 347 blueprinted longblock coming in the mail from K untz and Co. and I wanna change the tranny. This new motor (along with the other parts I have waiting to go alone with it which I'm not about to list) is gonna make 500+ horsepower off pump gas. To keep it short and simple I need some suggestions of a transmission. The P.O.S. stock T-5 won't hanle that beast of an engine so I was wondering what would be a better choice from a Tremec 3550 and a T-56???? Thanks.

A T-56 would be better because:

1) it's a six speed, and

2) can take 400ft/lbs

but, it's more expensive than a 3550 (~$1250 compared to ~$2200)

If you want a good 5 spd that will take 400 ft/lbs, get a TKO (~$1350)

The T-56 is an excellent tranny. But my preference would be to go with the TKO. You don't have to buy a shorter driveshaft and it can take the abuse.
