You probably paid 22 to 23k for your V6; the dealer won't give you more than 17k so you'll lose 5 to 6k, then the GT will be 26 to 28k, add the 5k you lost and it makes 32 33k for the new car. These numbers are estimates but the bottom line is close; you'll get hit hard. Spend 4k on a blower and you'll be very happy with the results.

Im not going to rely on the OT thats why Im waiting two weeks, because if my chart stays the same, I keept the same amount of mandatory OT, then my raise would make it even easier.
this is only my second car, how much do you think I'd get screwed?
dumb question I bet!

I plan on ripping them a new one for the time I got screwed with the GT, and if they don't give me a good deal on a new one I'm going to rip someones head off!
Wow, I've been involved with Mustangs and a Mustang club for over 20 years and never realized there was such a rift between the V6 and GT owners! My personal experience has always been "apples and oranges, but, hey, it's all good". I'm making a total lifestyle change - moving from NY to CA and sold my restored 86 GT and traded my modded ($4K into it) 02 V6 to get an 07 V6 w/ Pony Package and every option except the ridiculuously expensive navigation system. I was looking at GT - coulda afforded one, but there were other things that made me change my mind:
1. I'll be commuting 100 mi/ day RT 2. A GT with the same level of options as the 6 was a solid $5K more... bigger payment 3. I LOVE the look of the pony package (even with the stupid side stripe) because if you look at 65 & 66's Stangs you'll see that many of them had side stripes very similar to these and, of course, there's the fog lights in the grille.
I got a really fun and beautiful car for not a whole lot of money. Will I eventually get a GT? I don't know, but with additional money one would have cost me in gas and payments, I may get get another 60's Mustang to work on and have fun with (had a 65 and a 67). It the GT a better performer than the V6? of course it is, that's what you pay the extra $ for!
I got a little burned (by accident) on another post comparing V6's to GT's. I'ts OK to "compare" if it's for fun and interest, but not to "compete" (unless maybe you have nitrous or a turbo!) cause we really can't compete. I don't mind being a "little brother" to the "big star"... I'm still having a blast! I got what I want and I'm happy. If somebody wants to make the move from a 6 to the GT, then go for it if if that's going to make you happy... life is too short to wait forever till you can enjoy something (that's why I'm making the big move to CA). No matter what ya drive, there's always those who might put you down. I don't hang around people like that and when I do get into a conversation that kind, they quickly see me walking away. As someone else posted, you could a ferrari and still somebody will find a way to insult you. Don't bother trying to justify your choice of ride cause you'll only give them the satisfaction of "seeing you sweat" as it was said earlier. We should all be happy that after 42 years (and against all corporate economics) we can still buy a Mustang of our choice and these cars - 6 or 8 - are the best ever for quality, safety and performance (not including things like bosses, Shelbies, etc for performance).
i did a write up on this a while back and almost caused world war 3 lol. try to find it somewhere....its somewhere in the 05-07 section. All in all, i concluded that the v6 is better than the GT

I love to surf the posts from V6 owners. The threads and responses are generally very light hearted and friendly. I also like the reference to the darkside. Posting on the GT side, you better watch what you say or get chewed up and spit out.
My observation is that a stock V6 car is great. It has 210 horse, is stylish and the price is right. Doesn't it outsell the GT 2 to 1?
But if you want (or in this case need) the GT, don't try to turn your car into one, just go get it.
I think I would vote on blowing it. It sounds like you should have boughten the GT off the bat, but you did not. Like you said it is not a simple 5k decision now, more like a 9k one due to the loss on the trade. I say get a SC run it for 3 or 4 years, re-sell the SC for a 1 k loss and then sell you V6 privatley for probaly not that much less than the dealership is offering you now. In the meantime save up the extra cash that you would be paying for the GT and you will have a hell of a down payment in 2010.
I think that is the smart thing to do, but if you are going to be bothered by it to the point of hating your car then grab the Anal Ese and head to the dealership
Idk if you'd get hit too hard with a trade in up to a GT (keep in mind you save sales tax). I have a 06 V6 that msrp'd for 24K, and the local used car dealership offered me 14K for mine.....with 5,000 miles on it. KBB trade in was 17, edmunds trade in 17,700. Needless to say I didnt sell the car

yes, but a good 50% of those people who like to chew up and spit out still live at home with their parents, so it's all good.

Good post! This one part of your post caught my eye....
For me...I ddin't get my mustang to be and/or beat GT's. I got my mustang to drive it...then after that, I got my mustang to chew up and spit out the following stock or mildly modified cars:
1. 350Z's 2. BMW 3 Series 3. Boosted/Juiced up Hondas and Acuras and rice for that matter 4. Chevy's 5. ****ing M3's 6. Rice 7. ****ing M5's 8. Rice 9. Close minded idiots at the track (dont run into many of them, but every now and then, the look on someones face when they get moped up by a 6, priceless) 10. Late model GTO's (fugly cars, but fast!) 11. BMW's 12. STI's 13. Evolutions 14. BMW's 15. Any BMW really
Did I mention BMW's? LOL. Though now, I'm startng to pick on heavily modified cars with a lot more displacement than me. At the track, be careful, nothing is what it seems. At Ford World Challenge 10, I saw a 4 cylender mustang run 10's, skating 9's if I remember correctly. It was insane.
And though I took the road less traveled, my car is 100% streetable and very reliable. Quite happy with the work Powerhouse did with it.

I found out my chart is staying the same, and will not change unless i want it to. So I went to the bank scrounged some money up and now have $2100 saved for august when I buy the GT, by that time I should have around $5,000 to put down, along with the '07 pony.
question. what gears does the GT come stock with? I read on here some people who buy the GT get the 3.55 gear option, is that worth it?
Manuals are 3.55, autos are 3.31, though I heard in 07 or 08 that 3.55's become an option and both are 3.31. But that is not verified, just something I heard on the boards.

Marketing reasons are my guess....manual GT owners are more performance oriented I guess. Just taking a stab at it, though we know this is the contrary....this can be how marketing folks think.

more folks should be worried about what they like, and not 'force' everyone else to agree theres is 'better'...these are all nice cars, v6/v8/stock/modified, whatever...no matter what is is, there will always be something faster...as long as it impresses the owner, thats all that matters. too many folks seem to get some kind of inferiority thing going, gotta talk down to anyone with something they see as 'lesser' than theirs...never hear of a smack talkin vette owner dissing a bugatti veyron...there will always be something out there thats better - but remember better can be ride quality, number of seats, sound, mileage, looks, whatever...oh yeah, and performance too. better is in the eye of the beholder, and these mustangs all look good to me :)
