I was interested in purchasing a set of 97 SVT Cobra wheels. Nowhere on Tire Racks site does it say these are not street legal. On FordRacings site there is a warning.

I know California is picky about the air quality and though I don't currently live there, I do plan to return home with my little V6 in a couple of years. I never knew wheels could have an adverse effect!

Anyone have any thoughts or advice?

california doesnt give a *** on what wheels you have, they only care if you have you smog stuff in working conditions.

I have a 97 Cobra and they sure look like the stock wheels that came with my car.   I have switched them out for the original 95-R wheels but I still have them put aside with the rest of the stock stuff I took off.

I too can not imagine OEM wheels being illegal.   With all of the aftermarket wheels out there why in the world would they care.... they dont have enough time or money for that.   Although some of the things that come out of Calif. continues to amaze me.
