I didn't want to take up the other post, so figured I would make a seperate one. I made 1 run last year with the car, with stock transmission, converter, 3.27 gears, 650 cfm carb, and stock exhaust. We have 4 drag strips within 80 miles of here, and they are all 1/8 mile tracks. I turned 7.85 with it, and do not remember the MPH. This Spring I will be looking for 7.2-7.5 with any luck.
I am having a set of custom 90/10 coil overs made for it, since nobody makes drag shocks for these. I will be putting in a Detroit Locker with 4.56 gears next month, then the 8 point roll bar and custom sub frame connectors go in. It will be track time in the Spring about the time I get this done.
I have had some fun on the street with it on a few Saturday night outings, but that's another story Let's just say those WS6 Trans Am's aint Sheeet

Thanks guys. I wanted some thing a little different, and had the Bird as a family car, so decided to use it since I knew its history (I bought it new in the Fall of 92). The car has never been in a wreck, and has no rust.
NHRA has lowered the requirement for roll bars from 11.99 in 1/4 to 11.49, so I am guessing the 1/8th mile will go from 7.49 to 7.00 in 2005. With my poly seats, I will still need a back brace, so will get a 8 point kit, and install the main hoop, seat brace, and the 2 bars going to the rear. If I have to, I can easily add the others latter. I don't trust the poly seats at full power launches with out some support anyway.
The local strip opens in early March, so it will not be too long till I can see if it will live up to my expectations. It will never be as fast as it would be if I did the same thing to a Mustang, but the look on those Chebbie drivers face will be priceless.

you are correct about the 7.0 cutoff for a roll bar, that's from the new 2005 NHRA rule book I recently received in the mail.
And Bob Glidden kicked lots of GM ass driving a Pro Stock T-bird, why shouldn't you to?? LOL
looked at your site, nice job you're doing there with it. one thing though, you might have to put the battery in a sealed box since you have it back there with the fuel cell. I put a firewall in my Stang and showed it to my local IHRA track tech guy and he told me if I put the fuel cell back there with the battery, the battery would need to be in a sealed box in addition to having the fuel cell vented outside the area. double check this with your local tech guys to be sure first before you change anything.

Yes, I was thinking that even if they did not say anything, I would do something in the Spring. I was hooking up the trickle charger last week, and thought about the chance of fumes and spark. I will do a box, then run a external hookup for charging also.
I am also Retired. Spent 22 years in the Army, then worked where I was under the State Retirement, so at 55 I decided to do what I wanted, when I wanted for a while. I enjoyed it so much, decided to stay Retired.
Here is the Mustang I bought new when I got back from Nam in 67. These pictures were taken in front of my Quarters in Germany in 72. I had converted it to a NHRA class car then. We didn't have all these trick wheels and fiberglass hoods back then. I sure wish I had it still.
