Honestly a waste of money in my opinion.  Most cops now-a-days lock their radar until they see a car they wanna target.  By locking the radar till they use it, the radar detector won't pick anything up till it's too late.

Do yourself a favor and come visit us at http://www.radardetector.net/
I am a moderator there and you will get all your questions answered and will learn a few things.

Everybody has there favorites and that is fine.
You need to decide which unit works best for your area where you live.
We do our own testing and we do NOT get paid by anyone to say which is best and which is worse.
We let the tests and numbers do the taking.

I have been testing and playing with radar detectors and radar guns and laser guns for over 20 years.
You will find many others at the site with years of experience to learn from.

The Escort or Valentine are your best bets, the Escort will even pay for your tickets I believe.
Don't ever go with that Wal-mart sh!t though like the Cobra, my friend has one and claims it is the best yet he has been pulled over twice with it in his car in six months.

if u want protection get a radar/laser jammer they are illegal in most/some startes but will work wonders they jam signals up to a certain distance but its close and it also detects and lets you have more time to slow down

and most state police use laser speed detectors and unlike radar where the signal widens as it goes out and you pick up on what radar missed the cars in front of you a laser detector shoots a beam the size of a silver dollar or so and it stays that size and doesnt widen so as soon as your detector goes off  the cop already has ur speed

and the detector may not even go off because it may be shooting at the bumper and the detector wont even read it because of the size of the beam and for a lazer and the detector is in the window so no detection

Radar detectors are nothing more than ticket detectors. Just don't speed and you won't have a problem. Speeding doesn't get your there hardly any faster, and it waste gas. I did the math and tested it with my navigation, from Houston to Baton Rouge, roughly 3 1/2 - 4 hours Increasing my speed by 15 mph over the speed limit got me there a whole 20 minutes faster. Definately not worth a speeding ticket, and who cares if the company pays your ticket, they won't be paying your insurance premium when it goes up!
