So the other night driving home I spot a white with black accents 00 GT sitting on a used car lot, but of course it was sunday so they were closed. So today I decided to go check it out, but the gate was locked, I went next door and asked when they opened and the guy said that they didnt really have hours, to just come back later. So naturally I did, and the gate was open but the guy was nowhere in sight, so I just looked at it. It has a white exterior with a black interior, manual of course. On the window the asking price on the window was $7,300, and I thought to my self, damn this thing must have a load of miles. I noticed that the hood on the car had been repainted cuz I saw what some call "fish eyes"(when debrie gets caught under the paint when painting) and stuff, plus the car had a hood scoop, and we all know they didnt come with hood scoops until 2001. So I take off again and come back and the guy comes out and greets me so I ask him about it, and he tells me the car has 89k on it, which is like 10k less than my car, and the asking price was $7,300, which is even cheaper then the deal I had gotten on my car, and I'm thinking sweet, but.....yes, there's a but, the place doesnt do it's own financing, sooooo that means that they only deal with cash and nothing else. Meaning if I wanted it I'd have to sell my car, but....I havent even paid my car off, so even if I did, The most I could possibly get out of my car is $7k....which I owe a little under $2k. Man....the car already had flows or something, it had a beautiful start-up......damn..... But on the up side the guy said the car had been in a few accidents but not enough to give it a salvage title....so who knows. I'll try to see if I can get some pixz later.
You could sell your car and hand over the paymets to someone else. Ive seen ads like that on craigslist. I mean, honestly i sold my car so i can get a bigger engine, even if it means id have to deal with some ****, but the ends will justify the means... or so Erasmus says.. Just make sure its not a pos and the dealer is sweet talking you.

I suppose but I cant be left without a car, and plus, I dont know if I could pull more than $5k doing it that way you know? In my citys mustangs are everywhere, but not as many sixers. Cars in my city are very expensive, maybe becuase I live on a border town so alot of things get over priced. IDK....

probably best you don't get it. the fact it has 10k miles less doesn't mean it's still in good shape if the car was beaten to hell, or not properly maintained. which is probably the case if it's been in a few accidents. i think you just saved yourself some headaches.

Lol, honestly it sounds like you guys are afraid of projects. Your telling everyone not to get certain cars because theres gonna be some work involved. If you cant afford it, their right, dont sell your car. If your in need of transportation dont sell your car, i didnt need a car and i can afford the type of car i want with all the work ive done and money ive saved so i sold mine and im getting more added to it as we speak, so i sold it so i can get a bigger engine... with no fear of the work ahead lol.

It's not that they are afraid of projects, it is just that they can spot a P.O.S car when they hear about it...you should stay away from that, especially since the dealer said it was close to being a salvage and it isn't. And if you want a project car, go with a five oh or something a little older and cheaper.

why would you get a car in bad shape when you can just as easily get the same car in great shape. not everybody wants to buy a car just to fix it. unlike you, people like to actually DRIVE their new vehicle.

Stallion, I agree with them that this isn't the best possible move you can make. Are you going to get a corburated Camaro? If so, you will realize exactly what they are saying. You will have NOTHING but problems with it, as my dad had nothing but problems with his '70 Camaro and '77 Vette (Both corburated).
I wish you luck on your pursuit, just know that you can get a decently shaped 94-95 5.0 for $2500 - $6000 that you can fix up. You may not think the difference in years between an '80 and a '95 is big, but it is. I promise.

Project cars are great, if and only if, you have a reliable daily driver. If your gonna have a car thats going to give you problems and park while you work on it, you still have to get around.Youll be left with bumming rides off of someone till you get it running again.

Thats the thing. I dont want a project car. Really what I want is like a black/white GT mustang with a black interior and just not mess with it, well much. I'd probably just lower it and maybe give it a full exhaust, maybe headers, I gotta install the sixer headers before I go with the GT ones. Maybe a shift kit, and neccesitys like tint, alarm, sound system, and bam, be done with the bish. I dont wanna do any custom painting like I did on this one you know. I want it really simple but nice.
all i was saying before i was "censored" and attacked.... was that if u cant afford to lose your current car then dont even think about getting a GT... I used my situation as an example because I was in a position where i could get rid of my car and my daily life was not affected.

MAN, that is SO true!! But just because this car has 119K miles on it. GTs on average do tend to lead hard lives, and give a lot of credence to what the sales man said - which even with what he told you is still less than you need to know. Drive the car, run a carfax and do some due diligence. If it drives nice, doesn't smoke, rattle, vibrate, etc and the carfax is clean (and understand sometimes that means nothing too), maybe you're not buying a "project" car - maybe you've stumbled across a deal. But you should be VERY leery because maybe you've stumbled across a money-pit, too. This one requires a thorough going over. I'd take it to an alignment shop, take it to a reputable 3rd party mechanic, get it up on a rack, etc., before I dropped a DIME on it.

ALSO, carbureted vehicles can be reliable. I have no idea where that notion came from. Maybe all those problems with the maro and vette aren't necessarily carb-related. I have a 66 SWB Ford pickup with a 750 Holley on it that cranks up every time I point the key at it and gets 20 mpg. Carbs these days can have electric chokes for cold start ups, they can be jetted and tuned properly for steady operations, they can have dual metering plates for varying fuel delivery - lots of stuff. They'll never match the consistency or tunability of an fuel injection setup, of course, but to say carburetors will give a person nothing but trouble is a little bit of an overstatement.
