I am not going to say anything bad about either car. I am buying both (well still waiting on GM to release price for Z06 and ordering my Mustang from a dealer). I know the C5 Z06's are fast as hell bone stock and on the Corvette Forums I am on there are a lot of people running 11's and even some sub 10 modded of course. The new Z06's are suppose to be a 11 second car stock. We will see if that happens.
To bad the guy wouldn't race you. The average age for Corvette owners are like 48 though. Might be a little to set in their ways to race. Also I have learned that C&D and Motor Trend don't know jack :( {although C&D tends to know more than MT} If GM don't price me out of the new Z06 I will race anyone at anytime (27 years old San Jose Cali!).
Figuring out what kind of mods to do my new Stang GT. Any info on what I can do would be great info. I would love to be able to pull up in my 05 and beat a Z06.

That is what Motor Trend says, C&D says 62k MSRP so hopefully closer to lower to mid 60's

Ya, it sounds like a hell of a deal if you've got $60k to spend....better than having to spend over $100k for less performance though.

Lemme add to that a little.. stock C4 running 13's. Add some exhaust, intake, LT4 convertion or just a differnnt cam and work teh heads a little and your just as fast as if not faster then if you payed 3 or 4 times as much to swap in a LS1. so how does that make a sleeper? hell, head, cam, gear, exhaust, intake, clutch and program the thing and run low 12's.. you make no sence. why spend three times as much to go the same speed or slower and call it a sleeper? hell after all that slap a ATI on it and run mid 11's for still probably less then the LS1 swap would cost.

Why is everyone bashing the old cars? If you lived back in that day, and had one, you would be right in the middle of the competition! The engines have been improved upon! Don't bash them because they are slower than out CURRENT motors! What the **** do you expect? The engines to run the same times and put out the same ****ing horse power? THAT would be a complete embarrassment... I dont see what the big deal is about our current cars! Sure, later on the LS1 will be a thing of the past, but its still going to be a bad ass little motor... 98LS1, think about how well our engines respond to bolt ons and FI even...
You know, if you people think your cars are so slow, why don't you get rid of your POS? Get what you really want instead of wasting all this money building up "slow cars"?
You all sound like idiots. Period. "Dude my car is so ****ing slow, I'm going to spend 5K or more building it up to go as fast as the newer cars, but its still a piece of ****" Wow, you sound intelligent.
BTW, none of those paragraphs were directed to 2000SI... he is HAPPY with his SI... he doesn't go around dogging the car he drives...

Oh god, another demon argument 
Why not get a s/ced big block... It will never go out of style and you won't have to worry about newer technology...
Oh, and demon, my car is about $700 less a year than the '98 TA I was looking at... If you have the car for a few year, it evens out...

Dude, if you think that everytime I post my opinion its an arguement, you need to wake up and smell the horse ****. I was merely defending the engine I think is pretty good. I get sick of hearing about how ****ty this motor is and how ****ty that motor is, etc. They were good in their day. Thats my opinion. If you can't stand people posting opinions then get off the forum. It's life, I would have said the same thing in person. Internet doesn't make my opinion any different.
BTW, Acer, thats great, considering I don't know what kind of car you have and I own a WS6 not a plain TA, then your said statement makes absolutely no sense to me. Oh and mine is a 00 WS6, not a 98... and I have bank connections... so I'm not sure where you get that paying on my car, including insurance, is 700$ more than your car. Just curious.
