Default Cold Air or Mass Air System?

Hi,

I have a 04 v6 mustang and I'm looking to upgrade its air induction. Mac Performance has a 99-03 cold air kit, but I'm not sure if this will bolt on easily. Does anyone know if there would be any problems installing this kit. Mac also has a 01-04 3.8 V6 73mm Mass Air System but a little more expensive. K&N also has an air induction system called Generation II FIPK and can suposedly increase power by 10%. I'm open to other manufacturers air iduction kits also if anyone knows any. I'm really looking for the one that will create the most power and is compatable with my car.

Thanks for the help,

get an EBAY CAI. they are about $40 and will add just as much power as a $300 CAI

you should get 5 hp maximum

i got a bomz cai off ebay for 43 bucks. they have it for 120 bucks on their own website, it came with no instructions, but i figured it out and it actually looks really nice and you can feel the power a little, but it isnt going to add a lot of power.

ebay seems to be the way to go. most people have told me that they don't notice a difference between a top-of-the-line system and an e-bay steal. as far as whether or not an -03 kit would fit on an '04, ask someone else... but there has to be kits made for your year with a guaranteed fit.

I would go for an ebay cai, but my mom wont let me. She says that I should go with a name brand company because of quality and all of that. Even though the 03 and the 04 are the same model there may be small changes in the engine for a little extra power. Go for your year unless if you know for sure that the items are the same. I will tell you that because you have an 04 it will be harder because it was the last year of the model. Such as it is a bit harder to find parts for my 98 than it would be to find a part for an earlier year of that model.

I have friends who have had both a ebay CAI and a Densecharger(which I have also) and he says that he felt more power from the densecharger. It is a very good intake but expensive if you buy the pro-m MAM with it. You get what you pay for.

They're all the same, but the chrome plated ones look cooler in my opinion. Heres a pic.

I've heard 2 horror stories so far about the Ebay CAI's, I personally would buy from some company than ebay.
