Well I saw that, but Im just curious as to the reasoning of removing them.

More power...

Plus they are, well used to be, an extremely cheap mod.  If you stumble upon a set for under $100, they're a good deal.  I was fortunate enough to find a set of billet delete plates for $90 shipped.

OK, so basically theyre just designed to flow better.

I guess what I was really trying to find out is what exactly the motor and those butterflies do. Im assuming they open up more depending on how much throttle you give?

yes, the butterflies open and close to cause a tumble of the airflow.  the butterfly valves do take up space tho and thus, to a certain degree, restrict flow just with their presence.  as rpms increase the butterfly valves open up more.  At near open or full open they still restrict flow somewhat even in profile.   When you remove them entirely you remove that restriction.  if you have taken out the butterfly valves then on the low end you do not get their benefit....that is why some folks are worried that they might lose HP on the low end.   when you install some blowers you will de-install these (like UDPs for example.)

why would you take them off once you get a blower?

I have a quick question,

I installed mine about 5 months ago. But I didn't tighten the intake manifold bolts to factory torque specs since I didn't have a torque wrench. I did tighten the bolts in the right order though.

So far, I haven't had any problems, would it be necessary to go back and torque them to specs?

You only take them off when you get a TS blower because delete plates are already attached to it.

example: saleen series VI has you remove factory manifold including CMCVs and replace with the Saleen blower/manifold.

This would not be the case with a Centri supercharger tho.  Since that unit is installed prior to the throttle body then it would not necessitate removal of CMDPs if you had them already installed.  In fact some might even advise you to install CMDPs in a Centri install so that you remove the butterfly valves and it would be one less item to fail under higher pressue/boost.   I can't speak from personal experience and would defer to the centri crew.  another item to read up on......

Both twin screw and roots blowers replace the entire intake manifold.

Bringing this one back from the dead, but I have these plates on my car and would like to go back to stock.

Any chance one of you guys would be interested in a trade?
