Default Yet another CAI Question

I've been looking at some of the after market cold air intakes boxes for my Saleen VI SC w/475 upgrade kit which includesthe larger intake tube, air box top and 98mm equivalent MAF. Tunes aside, what if any gains would I expect with one of those sheet metal and conical filter kits vs what I have. I had soneone tell me the Saleen modified stock air box is quite restrictive. This statement doesn't make sense to me because the Saleen 281 Extreme uses the same intake tube, air box and panel filter set up just like what I have. Thespecs on this car are550 bhp and 525 fpt. If this intake is good enough forthe Saleen Emaking alot more power than my car why wouldn't it be good for my application as well? It seems like the gains may be all in the tuning vs the air box. Am I off base here?Any thought or comments?

Default RE: Yet another CAI Question

I think if you find one that fits that you would get some gains.....whether or not you feel the gains I doubt it. When you are pushing that much HP already the bump from a CAI wouldn't be to much percentage wise as it is when stock and adding it. The tune is a good part of the gains and you already have that done.
