Looking to upgrade my stereo, and had a few questions...

What is the mounting depth of the front speaker locations?  (dont want to buy too deep of speakers and not be able to roll down the windows.)

Anyone have pics of subwoofers in thier trunk?  Im thinking of going with one amp (4channel), front speakers, and 1 sub.  Looking to see how people have thier trunks set up.  I would still like as much trunk room as possible - filling it is subs and amps isn't an option.

Thanks everyone.
Dave

okay, I have figured out HU, interior speakers.

Just need a little help on the amp/sub.  With so little room, what are my options?  Would I be able to install a pair of 8" subs in the rear side panels where the rear speakers are located?  What about "free-air" (no pre-made enclosure needed, uses air space in the trunk) subwoofer?

I dont want to give up much space in my trunk - there is too little and I need room for my stuff.  Once that top is down, behind that baffle there isnt much there either.

Ehhh, I would rather have one good 10 then two eights personally.  I have enough trunk space to fit a very small book bag personally (Running 2 10's in a custom box), but with a single sub you could easily pull that off.  I used to run a single Apline S series sub with a 500 watt amp in a MTX box (Still got them actually) and that only took up about 12 inches of room in my trunk and was more then  enough bass.  My current subs will run free air, but you lose a good majority of the base if you do it that way.  Stick with something in a box IMHO.  Really if you are looking for good Bass you have to give up some space.  A cubic foot isn't that much to give up.

wow - its been a while on this.  So, updates:   Replaced all speakers, head unit, and added in an amp.  All alpine except the sub (old kicker solobaric.)  Didnt have time to really finish everythign like i had hoped, so it will give me a good project this spring.  My spring 2008 goals - add in ipod, build subbox/amp rack to hold the 10" sub, 2 amps, be able to fold down top, have spare tire access, and be able to put my golf clubs in trunk.

It will be a tough project, but I am confident I will get it done this spring.  I will post some pics in a few months.
