Default 3.9?

i see most people when they talk about their 04 v6's they refer to them as 3.9 which i dont quite understand since when i go to fordirect.com, cars.com, and other places the 3.9 isn't listed as an option. i talked to a dealer about it and he said there was no such thing, although i'm sure this wouldn't be the first time that a dealer didn't know s###, so does anyone know somewhere that would have specs/info on that engine?

Im unsure since I got into a debate a long time ago about this, apparently some places list the '04 GT's as having 3.9l engines and others as 3.8? Thats what I came up with a few months ago [&:]
