I painted the decklid and lower valence on my car yesterday.....I recommend it over the vinyl decals because the vinyls are about $40 a piece and i spent less than $30.......Also its much easier than lining the vinyl up right......

scuffed it down with scuff pads....then painted it with sem trim paint

cool, hopefully it lasts a long time. it should. i was thinking about painting mine but i was afraid it wouldnt look too hot and i would want to take it off...but i do like it...so i guess i could always paint it later.

I like that a lot. I think the painted decklid loks a ton better than the stick on honeycomb thing.

Hey can you tell me how you did this whole thing from start to finish? How long? Was it hard? What materials used? Thanks, looks awesome, im afraid if i tried i would make it look like sh*t

yea it looks good, i thought about it but i would b scared i would mess up the paint and it would be runny or orange peeled

if i had pictures of my steps i could do a writeup but i didnt take them so ill just tell you everything...

Materials Used-
SEM Satin Black Trim Paint (<$10)
1 Roll of Masking Paper (<$10)
1 Roll of 3M Maskin Tape ($5)
Razor Blade
1 Roll of 1/8" 3M Fine Line Tape ($8)
1 or 2 3M Scuff Pads
Putty Knife

Step 1- Take putty knife and lightly scrape under each emblem and you gently pull it off.

Step 2- Take the scuff pad and scuff the valence and decklid till it is dull. (Easier to do the decklid with it popped)

Step 3- Take paper towl and clean off scuffed areas

Step 4- Use fine line tape to outline top edge of the decklid where the black will stop, and outline the edge where the black will stop on the valence.

Step 5- Use Masking tape and paper to cover the whole area around the areas youre going to paint.

Step 6- Tape over the license plate lights unless you can get them out.....i couldnt

Step 7- Close decklid

Step 8- After every area around the decklid and valence is masked good, start painting. Start with a light coat (it shouldnt be solid black with the first coat).....Let it set for about 10-15 minutes and then spray on more paint. Let it set for about 15 more minutes.

Step 9- Remove masking paper and very carefully remove tape around the painted edges....be carefull not to pull off the fresh paint....

Step 10- Put the emblems back on

Step 11- Take pictures and show them off on mustangforums

Good right up but I would suggest using a wax / silcone remover before scuffing.
