what people forget is that what you price your car at in one part of the country may sell and in other parts may not sell. It's simply supply and demand. $5000 for a 98 in AZ would get laughed at. I couldn't sell my 00 V6 for that and it's been superbly maintained.

No one thought a Ford GT would sell for $250,000 yet a local dealership here sold 3 of them between 225-250K. Supply and Demand.

Congratulations on the sell. Now be prepaired for the biggest pain of your life, getting a car that's old and fast, and that will always be in the shop. Hell, mines only 12 years old, and if it goes more than 3 months without seeing a shop for something serrious I'm lucky.

Well just remember, this is not going to be as easy as you think, and don't think you're gonna be able to handle the car as well.

it's gonna suck for you.  you're gonna want to drive places, but won't be able to cause your car will be getting worked on.  you should probably use about $500 or $1000 of what you got and buy a beater car as well.

+1

Look at my buddies Barracuda as an example. Car looked great, his dad and grandpaw did a few fixeruppers and it ran fine for like a month, then after that, one thing after another, after another went bad. Now it just sits as it needs new shocks/struts for the front end, and maybe a few more things. After that he bought a 1980s truck, same thing, problem after problem, he then woke up and bought an 00 V6 stang, but his brothers father in law really wanted it so he bought it from him and now he drives an 06 Titan.

Point is, you're getting yourself in over your head.

Lol you guys make me laugh. I wanted to go places when i had my Mustang but i couldnt because my Dad wouldnt let me drive. Now.. i still cant drive.. and i dont have a car... but i want to get the Camaro.. fix it up... then drive it by next school year. I plan on checking everything out that i need for it to drive safely, replace that stuff, then work on hp. I was even thinking of dropping the huge amount to get rear disc brakes. Ive only got one more year of high school, and im planning on this being my Senior year car.. then ill either sell it or put it in storage til im done with college.

we make you laugh?  ok, you just said you couldn't go anywhere with your mustang.  now you're getting a faster car to fix up, which you still won't be able to drive anyway because you're grounded.  then after your daddy finally lets you drive your own car, you won't be able to because you'll be too busy trying to make it run.  you're the center of the joke here buddy.

Hey... how bout you pull the dick out of your ass nanaki... honestly.. i made it pretty clear... and in a nice manner... THAT I DONT ****ING CARE WHAT YOU SAY... Im getting this car.. and im going to fix it up if need be... ive got the resources it takes... ive got the time.. im having my Girlfriends Dad who was a car dealer for several years help me look, along with my Dad and my Grandpa who both know what to look for in cars... Why cant you just have said "good luck and cant wait to see the out come" instead of being a dick and detering me from accomplishing something pretty astounding for someone my age.. I mean honestly... What would the harm have been there? I understand its not going to be easy but you dont have to stress the same point OVER AND OVER again... I COULDNT drive when i sold my Mustang.. and so i had no need for a car.. now that im looking again ill have plenty of time to fix it up until i can drive... and i wasnt grounded we had a deal, if i get a B average i can drive, if not i cant.. i wasnt getting a B average when he stopped letting me drive... (oh and btw... i didnt mean to offend you when i say you make me laugh... but sure seems like i did the job..)

Why are you guys giving him hell for this? There is no guarantee that the car he gets will be a peice of junk. It's his decision, he can do what he wants. He doesn't deserve to be talked down to just because he doesn't want to drive a mustang anymore. He didn't take your advice - that doesn't mean he should catch **** from you.

Anyway, good luck with the next car. Why a Camaro over a Trans Am or Firebird though?

you offended me?  HAHAHA!  dude, if you seriously did not care as much as you say you don't, you wouldn't be posting a short story response to what i said.  majority of you highschool kids get so worked up over nothing so easily.  it's hilarious!  grow up, son.
