Default 302 into a 347?

Im gonna rebuild the motor i my 90 gt this winter, if i still have the car.I'm thinking of strokingthe 302 and im wondering what if any machine work needs to be done to the block? Is there a clearance issue with some cam profiles (lift)? IS IT WORTH THE MONEY IT WOULD TAKE TO DO?

yes it is worth the money to do it but remember that your stock block is only good for round 500HP keep that in mind esp if you are thinking of running N2O or s/c the 347, i did the stocker into the 347 and wanted more power so i swapped to a Dart Iron Eagle 4 bolt mains all around if you build a 10 or 10.5:1 comp 347 should put down 400s

thanks for the tip about 4 bolt mains..I have T/F heads and a x303 cam,i was thinking around 10:1 for comp. I wont be doing a s/c...maybe nos.So no further machine work will need to be done to the block for clearance cuz of the additional stroke? thanks!

yes you willhave to clearance the block for a 347 and run a 7qt oil pan, and dont forget all the supporting mods like fuel injectors, FPR, tranny, clutch, rear end to be able to hold the extra power T5s die quickly good luck with the build

you have to notch the bottom of the cyls. for rod clearence and 30 thou. overbore. after that there is usually more after mock-up, like zero decking.

it doesnt need one. a buddy of mine has a 347 with his stock pan. a larger pan is nice because more oil means less heat. also no chance of sucking the pan dry when running a high volume pump
