I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question.
I bought a new 427R yesterday. Thanks partially to the feedback and advise I receive here, as well as Fnsweet. I owe you guys a huge thanks. It's running great, however I noticed today the after cruising around town for a bit that the rouscharger was extremely hot. Hot like you can't touch it for more than like 1 second. Is this expected?
I've never owned a supercharged car before, and want to make sure I don't inadvertently screw it up. I'll be touching bases with the service department Monday morning as well.
Thanks!

As I understand it, you should "cool down" the charger by continue to drive for 10 minutes or so at normal RPM's and give the exchanger time to cool it down.

EDIT: after re-reading your post, I, and others, would probably want to know if you were driving "hard" at all during your cruise and if you did, was it toward the end of your drive?

they get warm usually after an extended period of pushing boost, its just what blowers do the lightning and cobras did the same thing it mainly heat soak it happens
The housing is going to get warm regardless. Unless your driving in really cool temps. In Florida the humidity and temp is always up so the housing always gets pretty warm regardless of how I drive. Of course this is from a Saleen owner so take it with a grain of salt.
