the Vin says its a 351W 2v built in 1970.. And I believe that the pieces of metal are valve seals from the top of the heads.. I hope. THere are small pieces of them all the way down the oil passages to the crank..

Well the engine is completely torn down and the block is going to the machine shop tomorrow. Cylinder walls still had the hone markings on them and everything seems stock.. The main and rod bearings are ford make, and have nothing that indicates a different size other than stock. The guys are going to clean and measure, magna flux the block for $50 at a reputibale place. And if it needs work then I will just have them do it. I did break off the oil sending unit extension and left the threaded piece in the block. The shop can take that piece out.. Anyway, I will post some pics tomorrow Hopefully.. The guys at work blocked access from MF,, I think maybe I was on it too much at work.. That sucks. So, now that the engine is apart,, its time to order parts and start cleaning up the engine bay..

Update: I turned in the block last week,, They cleaned it and bead blasted it and it is just beautiful! I will be waiting until September/October to get it rebuilt, but in the mean time I am working on the engine bay and steering linkages/ ram rebuild. After that I need to put a new rear suspension in and its on..
They will bore the cylinder walls to .030 over and rebuild the motor stock for 1,086 $$ but I will be putting in a better cam and have the guys port/polish the heads.
I will put up some pics of the engine block tonight,, its a beauty..

Well I am selling my daily driver on monday or tuesday (depends on when the chick gets the money) and then the engine is off to the shop the same day. The guy at the shop said it would be probably a 4 day turn around and then he will deliver it to my place.. Then I paint the motor and slap her in.. So that gives me 4 nights of working on the engine bay and rebuilding the power steering clyinder.. Shouldnt be a problem.. Anyway,, I just thought I would refresh this post and let you guys know that I plan on having my baby on the road by the end of next weekend.. If everything goes as planned..... I just cant wait!!!!!!!

Damn, I just realized how lazy i have been,, I was working on the same engine cleaning and ram rebuild 2 months ago... At least the bay is almost clean.. I just had no motivation because I thought I wouldnt get the engine done until october.. But then i figured that selling my little car and taking the trolley to work for 2 weeks was well worth the hastle to get the grande running again..

Have them paint the block after it is machined and prior to assembly. IMO, it looks a lot better than taking a spray can and painting an assembled engine, water pump, intake, gaskets and all.

Hey, at least you werent face down!! Lol... Bad joke..
and good Idea about getting them to paint the block first.. Thanks.. Im going to paint the block and heads in dark ford blue.. The water pump is already painted aluminum (I was thinking about buying a new one though just because the old one is a little corroded on the input and its old,, but at least its pretty since i painted it) valve covers will probably be black,, sooner or later I will get some of the black crinkle coated 351 or powered by ford valve covers.. But I dont know if I should paint the intake aluminum or make it blue.. Any suggestions? Im going to have the shop bead blast it when its there..

My advice is to paint it the original factory colors. As for the water pump, you're crazy to not install a new one while you're at it IMO. I wouldn't get a cheap rebuild either, I'd spend the extra money to get a new, quality one.

Yea,, I know I just didnt want to admit it.. Im thinking the same for headers.. Might as well just spend the money and get ceramic to last for a long long while...

If I were you (this is what I did), get a edelbrock high output aluminum water pump. They look good, and they pump out something like 30% more water than a stock water pump so it should help with potential overheating problems.
