If those pieces were under the valve cover, I would say they came from the top of the motor. The picture was blury, but I am wondering if these could be part of  a previously replaced rocker arm?

If you found these in the bottom of the oil pan they could be anything, but if found in the top of the motor, more than likely you can safely assume that these came from the top of the motor, and you probably dont have massive issues.

I have a hard time imagining these piecess migrating from the bottom of the motor, through the oil drainback holes to the top of the motor without one hell of a catastrophic failure.

Same here,,,   I dont think it came from the bottom end,, its just hard to imagine that happening..  I will inspect everything tonight when I get home.. and then start pulling the rest of the motor apart..

AND - try putting them together like a puzzle, to see if they fit together and make somthing recognizable.

Are you sure the pieces are metal ? Otherwise it could be pieces of a valvestemseal.

Based on this picture, you DO have a 351W, NOT a 302. And yes, I am 100 % positive.

Look at the right side of the picture, where the timing cover meets the block. There's an inch of block between the timing cover and the top of the block on a 351. On a 302, the timing cover is about even with the top of the block.

Yep, a 69 351.  If you have the moolah, while you have that engine out of the car, I would go ahead and have those heads machined.  It was probably running like crap before you took it out, huh?

pssst,......... the double intake bolts into the heads towards the front of the motor were dead giveaways of an early 351w. you got good heads on that puppy, get hard seats installed and have them massaged a bit - you'll be happier than a pig in sh*t

Actually,,  Quite the opposite,, I would have never known anything was wrong if the oil pressure hadnt gone down the way it did..   I wouldnt have noticed the valve seals being screwed up until I would have pulled the valve covers and painted them..    The thing ran great,,  way quicker than my 05 mazda 6 and I could stop at a light and whip the rear end around doing a u-turn with no problem..  Really smooth idle and sounded great for not having exhaust..      I am toooooo happy..

What do you reccomend doing to the heads and what would it cost?  just an estimate?

Head bolts require a 1/2 drive socket set. They are torqued to 70 foot-lbs. Put you back to PO3 if you keep this stuff up.
