Ready for some more power on my 96 Cobra, any thoughts?

I'm ready for some more noticeable power for my 96 Cobra. I have 4.10 gears, UDP's, o/r H + flowmasters. I want to spend less than 1,000.

Any thoughts?

You wasted your money on UDP's. Unless your running FI they're more or less worthless.

Bore it out, and put flatheads in her. You'll defenitely notice that. Cams would be a nice thing too, but those will be alot more than 1000.

Bolt ons arent great for sn95's, and a JLT is really unneeded for the amount of air your engine requires.

Best possible thing for you I'd say would be a valvejob, get some more lift in her and open those valves up. Shouldnt be over 1000 if you do it yourself.

Trade it in for a 99-01!

Why? they're not THAT much better. Nothing like a sn95 to a terminator.

They're esentially the same car, with a few improved things for a different hp rating, and an IRS which isnt great for the 1/4 mi. anyway. Only major diff is an iron block which is a downgrade if anything, and the new body style.

Newer is not always better, and esentially its strictly preference. I personally enjoy the sn95 bodystyle, as long as its not riced.

Plus with a little work my car now hands 99-01's asses to them. (no offense to anyone wo owns one)

I agree. Iwould never trade my 96 Cobra in for a 99-01. They are essentially the same car as far as performance. Now the 03-04 Cobra, YesI would consider that, when they head down to under 20k in price.

But back to the subject. So theres not really anypowerful bolt ons for the these babys?

Where do you take your parts to get ported & polished, and bored out? Do you need a tune after that? What does it cost to get a tune?
