Here's a random question, what is the use for the honeycomb in the hood scoop?
My theroy is it displaces air so that it won't build up too much pressure to blow it off the hood.

Am I correct or retarded if the real reason it just for looks?

lol i read earlier that ram air and stuff dosnt work cause u have to be at supersonic speeds for the proper amount of air to go into the engine

no way. Think of the mass of air that already enters the engine. Now stick your hand out the window while on the highway. That is a crapload of air being shoved into the engine,, cold air at that. It makes a heck of a difference

However, Fluid Dynamics can support claims that only 3 % higher volume of intake air is accomplished at speeds attainable by high performance and race cars (and an intake on the side reduce the volume by 3 %). Forcing a large volume of air into a cone by motion alone is only possible at supersonic speeds (below that it reduces the volume)

got it from wiki :D so it could be comeplete ****, but i do find it hard to believe that it would "ram" more air into the engine then its getting already.

wait. Blinkwise, were you talking about the honeycomb or a ram intake?

Honeycombs dont do crap. Just show

And 3% can help alot.

I know the Kawa Ninja had ram air intakes... and when we disabled that for a few seconds, you could feel it lacking response and trust...
So ram air is working for sure!!
honeycomb is just plastic. without the hole in the hood..... nada

So the scoops on NHRA Pro-Stock cars are useless eh? On carbureted cars it is very helpful. On past years of Mustangs with different computer systems they helped some. The window of adjustment for a/f by the computer on these cars is very small;  hence the tune required for most cai's. Any gains on these cars are negligible at best, and there's really no way to properly tune for it on a chasis dyno. The makers can make all the claims they want, but remember that the TORNADO people can show you dyno results to prove it works too.
