At 34 I must be getting old. I have a daughter that turns 3 in a couple weeks and another on the way. What happened to just talking with the kids or looking outside while you drive like we all did when we were kids. Has our society gotten so busy that we have to plug them into videos or playstation for entertainment? We just got back from a road trip that was 8 hours driving each way. No problems. Just listened to some kids music once in a while. It sounds like your kids got you trained. Now having said that I like the idea of GPS.

Yeah, my brother's Honda whoopteedoo has the global positioning system in it. He spends more time farting around with all the buttons on that thing than he does paying attention to driving. I'm a dinosaur, I know, but any distractions such as taking your eyes off the road to find out where you are going is dangerous IMO. Pull off to the side of the road and get out a good old paper map to find out which road to take. I've been doing it for about 50 years and have never been lost yet. Same thing with cell phones. They take your mind off of the driving demands at hand with crowded streets and bad drivers.

I was in the hill country going from winery to winery taking all sorts of little country roads. I swear if the GPS went out we never would have found our way back to the B&B. And it is perfectly safe. We just entered the address before we left and it would mute the radio and give us advance notice when a turn was coming up. I never had to take my eyes off the road.

It looked great. It's not like it was a daily driver anyways. I designed most of that truck, including all the TVs and the fiberglass work.

He (or I) built that truck to show it, not use it as a daily driver. That is why it also had the front windshield tinted and vinyl stickers down the front windshield.

Well other then that what else did he have I don't think the buck could have made it long distances either. It was a little much at leawst the TV aspect of it and the seats sucked . I can't say it was comfortable when your knees are in the dash. I tried to stay out of that truck as much as possible. Even if you had two people in the car max they would need two tv and If driving only one. It was show but excessive. The money could have went to something else like performance it was a four banger.

The seats were Corbeau CR-1's re-covered to match his truck, I don't see how you didn't like those... Of course the TVs were excessive, thats what show trucking is all about. There was no reason to mod that peice of junk motor because there is no way he could make it fast. We found those TVs cheap on eBay anyways... It wasn't the most comfortable thing to sit in, but it definately was not unbearable for an hour long cruise

It even sounded annoying. There were so many mods done to it that there was practically nothing left to do. it was way too crowded Tv smaking you in the face. I have sat in the back of civics with three people and been more comfortable. It was still must have been expensive to have the wiring done and redone after he messed it all up. And all the extras he had to have to run the tvs amp etc....

GPS' are great, my dad wired his through his stock speakers in his old SUV so he could have the radio on low and the GPS talking could be heard over the radio. dont even have to look at the screen. and i never knew how great they were till i was lost in downtown dallas.

I too am 34, and I do admit my daughter has me trained pretty good, but come on when a two or three year old want something they know is right in front of them and they can't have it they freak. It is safer for me to have a calm child in the back instead of a hysterical one. Don't get me wrong I talk to my child a lot more than my dad ever talked to me, and she loves to look out the window and try to find animals, airplanes, and classic mustangs. I know what you mean. Maybe I am just jealous. Sometimes I wish I could give a binkie to a 3 year old. HMMMMMMM

My wife and I are Realtors. I have a TV/GPS in the car we use to show clients houses so their children can watch TV while we drive. I have got to admit that it is pretty distracting. Although it is very useful when the weather is bad or we need directions, etc. But the driver has to be disciplined enough to not look at the thing while driving.
