I thought that Honda was awesome. I loved the way it looked. Lowered with 16" wheels. That is all on the outside and it had all that on the inside. I would love to own a car like that. I would still have to keep my Stang but I would love a Honda like that.

LOL...Yeah you have to love imports though....Good run....The fast and the furious was started because some little hispanic kid in NY had a Black twin turbo modded 300zx and he was never beaten by anybody...This kid took on all challengers....Some reporter did a story on him and the rest is well let's say history...lol I don't believe that car is a ten second car though...usually 4th gear will wind up the quarter and that viper was pulling strong by forth. I'd say it will definetly hit 11's with ease...Total sleeper gotta love em. I see it every day here and everyone of these fellas are rich asian's...they have the money to dump lots of cash into these rides.

Yeah, i agree. There is a BIG house on the road my dealership is on. We thought some big wig wanted a house in NH. Well, it turned out there is about 20 "foreign" people living in this ****ing house. They opened a nail shop and they all drive "fast and the furious" type cars. lol. I put a clutch in a 96 Supra with TT. Its nasty. I wish i could have really gotten into it. But with the new clutch and all.. you know

What I dont understand is why they will take a POS and make it run 11's by dropping loads of $$ into it. Why not start with something with more potential and make that fast? I guess its just the ricer mentality that "I can whup a V8 with a 4" sure a stock one if you spend enough, and some slightly modded ones if you spend more than the V8 guy did on hiw whole car. (holy runon sentence batman) I guess if you want to spend $50k or more to run 11's or tens and have an annoying weedwhacker sound pissin off everyone in earshot, then sure, its your money isnt it?
I like the type of car that you would look at and think, what a POS. At least untill it starts up and you hear that solid roller idle and smell the race gas, then the large tires and 3" pipes make sense. Beware the car with primer that sounds like its about to die at the light but never does. I'm still waiting for an import to run a decent number down here.
I am not trying to stick up for the "ricers" or what ever everyone calls them. I hate them as much as everyone else. BUT.... I dont think they start with a project 10 sec, 11 sec, 12 sec import car with intentions of beating up on a v8 driver. I think its the v8 driver that thinks his car will dominate and the 4 cyl. car driver thinking he has what it takes and accepting the race. I drive a v8 and everytime a 4/6 cyl import car lines up next to me. I WILL accept the offer to race and i think i will whoop his ass every time. I agree not every import is fast, considering every import in my town is a load of ****. I think its just personal preference. I perfer v8's Mustangs the best.

That's not a ricer mentality. I don't understand why you think that, why dump money into a V8? because you want to go fast, it's the same exact experience and the same exact mindset someone with a 4 cyl has, only they start with something slow simply because V8 owners think that no 4 cylinder can ever be fast even though I've shown you time and time again that a 4 cylinder can be quick as hell. I don't see why you think it takes 50 grand to make an import run 10-12s. It doesn't. Whoever put that idea into your heads needs to be shot because they are simply too arrogant. Not everybody likes V8s and domestic muscle, I know people who hate "rustangs" and "slowmaros" with a passion. It's personal preference. You guys are hung up on this "ricer mentality" more than people with imports are. It's sad really when you can't understand the potential behind building the ultimate sleeper. Yes I know what you're going to say "I can take X car, put 5 k into it and run 9s" well do it! That doesn't mean anything to most import owners.
Hrmm, I'm almost positive 2000si has posted links to this Edelbrock Turbo kit he's planning on getting. And it only runs like 4k? or less... So say you're making like 250rwhp with the turbo, it doesnt take much to make the light car move... I'd prefer my v8 over everything, but I don't see why everyone has to be somewaht "ignorant" on the subject
First off, I dont like the civics and crxs and other import cars that much. I dont like their exhaust tone- I love the sound of a V8.
But, at the same time, I give respect to any guy (or girl) who can put that much devotion into their machine. It doesnt matter if it has 3 or 16 cylinders, a 10 second car is still a 10 second car.
Some say that these imports take soo much more to make it into the 10s, but a lot of them dont need a lot. Those light bodies can still run good with less power needed than bigger cars like our mustangs. Plus, they can sure get a heck of a lot better gas milage.
I dont think I'd ever get an import car, but they still hold respect in my book.
BTW, has anyone read that article in Car Craft Magazine about imports? I think it was in an issue from 1996 or somewhere around there. The article was about this exact subject. If I find it in a magazine, I'll post it. Anyways, the author agrees that though he doesnt personally like imports, we have to start accepting them for what they are. They might not have the lobing cam at idle, or the deep throaty sound, but they can still kick some a$$.

no no noooo:( i will pretend u did not say that.
its cool how its a sleeper but it still sounds and looks like ****.. why not a 10 second sleeper mustang or something.... blah, anyways props for doing that but still.. not something id do to a civic.

You're scalding someone for having an opinion and liking something different, quit with the brand loyalty stuff already and go drive something fast that was meant to be slow. Regardless of the sound I still think you'd have fun.
I have heard some Hondas that I think sound really cool. The fast one's sound crazy to me. V8's have that mean trumble to them while Hondas(4 cyl's.) have a, ummm...I guess different sound to them. You can tell when you are hear the motor or the exhaust, and I like the sound of a fast 4 cyl. car like a fast Honda.
dc: I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE A HONDA LIKE THAT!!!!

While I agree with drewski, the frog guy didnt go ricer with it, so its more respectful.
Si, its not that I dont believe they can be fast. Did you know before flathead Fords were the hot ticket, almost everyone was runnin inline fours? Its like the most basic roots of Hot Rodding. Light car and an engine, doesnt have to make alot of power. Still 250hp is still only 250hp. Some of us just like overkill, and we like it down low. Some people dont want to spin and engine to 9000 rpm and have 150ftlbs everywhere under 7000. Some of us want an engine that can move whatever we put it in, and when we get our car light, like 2700lbs, then we can make it REALLY fast, like 8's in the 1/4. 10's are impressive to guys with 4.6's and 5.0's. If you have a smaller engine then its even more impressive.
Its simple, my paradigm is different than yours. When you think 300hp in a 2000lb car, I think more like 750 hp and 800ftlbs in a 2000lb car. I dont care how it goes around corners if it has that much power, although I do like cars that turn too. My big point is how much it costs. If mom and dad are paying your bills and you have a job that pays $25k a year, then you can go nuts with your car, you can drop $50k into it even if it is a 4. I dont need $20k to run 10's. For that much I would be runnin bottom 8's. Sure you can make anything go fast, how much money you gonna throw at it?
Be the champion of the 4 cylinder all you want. Why is it again that you dont have a 10 sec car, or even a Mustang that you like so much? Something about $$$ right? So if you want to go fast, you find the cheapest way if you have no $$$. If you have plenty of $$$ and want to go fast, it opens up more options. Whats the easier and cheaper way into the 12's? A 440 in a 72 Dart, or a Civic with an engine swap and turbo kit? I know I can do the Dart for right at or less than $2000, and it will run mid to low 12's. It could be a mild 351 or 460 in a Fox too, doesnt have to be a Dodge. Drop a big engine into a light car and you go fast cheap. Some of us are poor, some of us dont have daddy payin the bills, some of us have families and responsibilites. Some of need to go fast and no matter how fast we go and how much power we have under our right foot, its never enough. Combine both and the imports dont look so appealing. Going fast in an LS1 or 03+ Cobra isnt appealing either because the initial cost is high and so are the parts you need to run faster. Just the way I see it.
ls1's arent expensive anymore dood...and cobras are depreciating nicely as well. and sure, parts might cost a bit more for them, but it doesnt take as many to make them fast. and actually compared to most imports, even ls1 and cobra parts are cheap.

Yea but hey he wants to spend all that money into it, its his deal, just like how we like spending money on stangs, for him it seems to well worth it so who cares, that thing hauls ass.
