Default v6 moding questions

i have a 2002 v6 5sp. i plan on doing cai, underdrive pullies, diablo chip, tb spacer, cam and roller rockers, 3.73 gears and t-lock, ported heads, and upper and lower ported intakes. about how much hp can i expect with these mods? also will my transmission and rear end be able to handle the hp with these mods?

Definately. Your stock rear-end is actually quite beefy. the reason your hear horror stories is because some people fail to take proper care of them. Your rear-end is a machine just like your engine. It needs fluid changes annually and TLC just like everything else. On a final note, I would HIGHLY recommend getting a camshaft for your combination so your other mods will be worth while. Without the cam, i would think it's all for not.

i personally think the only muffler that sounds good on a V6 are the flowmasters.

That seems like an awful lot of money to be putting into a V6 stang. I just dont understand paying all that money for such a new V6 stang and trying to make it fast by putting all that money into it.

I would suggest looking into a Fox body for that price that you are going to spend on the six.

It's not so much the modding a mustang, it's the challenge of a V6 for me. It's fun and challenging. Everybody knows you can go to your local store and buy parts for your GT, but not everybody knows the potential of the V6 Mustang. Even though we lack 2 cylinders, we also lack that weight. About 200lbs, that's a considerable amount which also makes the V6 a little more stable than the GT. Also, not everybody is looking to build the fastest car. For some of us, it's just a hobby or passion, or lack of money. I personally think the 80's mustangs were the "darker" years for the beloved car, but that's my opinion. And I'm pretty damn happy with what my V6 has done for me so far. It's fun to drive, easy to work on, and pretty damn fast. I still have lods left to do, but breaking 400hp maybe even 500 is not going to be hard with the help of a few more mods if I decide to go any farther. And yes if you're asking supercharging would be the main way of getting there. Now with 400+ hp, their isn't may cars out there that could take my little ole V6. And on a final note, look back to the 80's when buick brought out there Grand National. It's a 3.8L just like our mustangs, but it is turbo charged.

scrap the TB spacer. they don't work

for the chip contact justin at www.velocitymustangperformance.com

he can custom burn a chip for the same price as the generic junk diablo
ask him to raise the top speed limiter, rev limiter to 6,000rpm, calibrate the speedo for the 3.73's, and let him know who's ported heads are going in the car along with the cam specs

he's the best and you usually have your chip within 1 week

for the cam there are many guy's making great cams like RGR, RPM, Morana, Super Six and a few others. Comp Cams is also making cams for the 3.8 now and would be a nice choice to avoid using adj rockers and longer pushrods with the custom reground cams everybody else offers. i don't know the cam spec they will offer but they should be nice

i have an RPM 215/230 cam Mik at RPM is a great guy and makes great parts for the 3.8 visit his site at www.rpm-mustangs.com

except for the TB spacer everything on your list is a good step forward

good luck
