Afternoon all. I have a 77 Mustang II . it had a 4 in it and it now has a 351. I looking for information on how to make the stock 4 cy tach work on the v8 .  if theres a will theres a way. Im just trying to find it . thanks for stopping by

To answer your question, the V8's have a adapter box do-hickey on the back of the stock tach. it plugs into the back of the instrument cluster, and then the wiring harnes plugs into the adapter.

yours *should* be working now, but it should be reading twice your actual RPM speed.

i wish i could find you a picture of one, but i cant . you can try phils in alabama, he may have a instrument cluster from a V8 car but be prepared to pay out the butt for one. (i ended up adding an aftermarket tach on the column in front of teh stock tach anyways)

if you want to go with an after market one i have a leftover that will fit right in the opening of the old tach,  will sell cheap just to help a member here ....... leave a way to get ahold of you

i think thats the best way too is get an aftermarket one that fits the dash bezel and hook it up that way. thats what im gonna do to mine.

thats what i have it fits right in the factory opening  perfectly i just want to keep it stock so its outta here
