If I put a wild cam in a 3.8 new-edge how much Hp/Tq would I gain? Has anyone installed their own cam or is that something you would recommend having a professional do? I know its time consuming but the install seems fairly straight forward.

Its about a 20hp mod, its something that should be thought of after all bolt ons are completed, roller lifters are upgraded and roller rockers with hardened pushrods are added.
Im not sure about how long of a swap it would be though, I do know that you have to remove that water pump, I think you have to remove the dampner and then the timing cover.
Always replace your timing chain when doing this.
I would talk to Tom at Supersix Motorsports or call up comp cams and ask them. Its easy to overcam these engines without sufficienty airflow.
I kinda try to stay away from cams personally, its more of a last resort for me, so many variables change when getting cams.

Clif like I said, its about the last mod on my list. Its pretty much up there with a new forged 4.2L bottom end. I would rather do everything else first and then when im maxed out then go to that level.
personally i want a bigger cam. i have the standard FI cam offered by SSM but i would like one with a little more duration to get some more power. i will probably do it when i get the 4.3 stroker

It's all good man. Myself, I've been trying to buy used SC's off Ebay for some time now. When that does happen, first thing i buy is gonna be a more aggressive cam. Then ported upper&lower from SSM, 90mm MAF & larger TB, the necessary fuel delivery upgrades, and of course a good dyno tune.

If you wait a little bit SSM is going to release a Eaton M112 adapter intake, then you can put the 03/04 Cobra SC on there or Kenne Bells or Whipple or whoever else made an aftermarket SC for the Cobra (there were a lot.)
I am going to run the stock cam with 1.8 roller rockers untill I have to build a forged bottom end, then I will go with either SSM's custom Comp cams stud mount roller rockers or Morana's roller rockers. SSM's are the most stable though being that its Tom's own custom rocker that Comp makes for him, its a very good set.
I will have Tom find me a cam too at that point, one that still will be streetable and smog legal for california. I have a bare block here just waiting for a nice 4.2L longrod. I dont want to go with a 4.3 or 4.4L because of the boost levels, the stock eaton makes as much as 22psi on the V6 system and my ported case will make about 6psi more than that. Thats not what I plan on running though when I first get it, I plan on 10-12psi.
a cam for one will sound amazing with just the swap, to get the full effect u will want to have ur heads and intakes ported and polished and a good tune is also needed, with out these u wont even have any low end power

And if you want to see the thing in action then ask LilRoush about it, he is one of the designers of it and has it on his car. He is the one that made 600rwhp on a 4.2L with it.

Cliff go to www.supersixmotorsports.com and talk to Tom about it, he sent the intake out for testing last week.
I've spoken to Mr. Yentzer a few times before about H/C specs, will he tell someone who isnt "in the loop" about this? or do they want people to know this sh*t is on it's way? Like I said, I'll buy one if it is true. A fully Steigmier Ported M112 on a built 4.2/3L V6 would be a KILLING MACHINE.
