Default 4 speakers or 6?

I recently quoted a system for my 06, and the install guy said they usually only put 4 new speakers in, instead of all 6, because it'll sound bad. Is there any truth to this? It would save money, but I don't wanna do anything half-assed. If it'll sound as good or better with the extra 2 speakers, I'm all for it.

Also I was wondering if anyone had insight into whether I should keep the woofers in the doors. I want to, but I'm not sure if it's practical. I'd replace them with after market ones. I think it'd be nice to have with the two 12s in the trunk. I also wanted to put tweeters on the pillars. (I didn't discuss the woofers or the pillars with the installers)

Thanks guys

Really you only need front speakers. Ideally you would run seperate mids and tweets.

It would be a total of 4 speakers. If you have an 06 with the two 8's in the doors, I would put in a really nice 3 way setup.

Front Stage, thats it.A 3-way system and even just a good single subwoofer, you would never be happier with your system. Where did you get this quote, what kind of equipment are we talking here, what kind of money are you looking at spending?

I have an 06 with a shaker500 system. It's going to be extensive. The set up was generally 4 kicker speakers with components, new head unit, 2 12" kicker subs in a custom ported box, 1000w amp for the subs andI forget what wattage on the speakers. And then a capacitor and all those goodies. I was told 6 speakers would sound like ****, but I was just wondering. If it's only 4 speakers, I might also do something custom with another set of woofers in place of where the other 2speakers would be.

including the custom work, box, parts/labor, and 4 years insurance on everything, a little under $5000. But that was a base estimate, I know some of the guys, so I'm hoping they'll hook me up with some of it

Here's the exact price quote (if I'm reading the model numbers right)

2 pair kicker speakers with components
Pioneer touchscreen head unit
350w Kicker amp
1000w Kicker Amp
2 12" Kicker subs

Kits/wires/etc

installation, gps antenna

4 year insurance

4235.95 (The note says it doesn't include the custom box, but I'm not sure)

What kind of work do "these guys in here" do?

I would trust what PReal and seight say... They will show you better brands out there for less than the price you're going to pay for the kicker stuff..

I will be going with one of Preal's thoughts on ditching the rear fill and getting a nice comp set for the front..
