i recently saw an ad in mustangs and fast fords that was about crate engines, the ad said that they had a 351w that was 392 cubic inches. Know i was wondering if it was just a typo and was 351 cubic inches or the climaed 392? is there a reason for this?

That ad is no typo. They simply add a longer stroke crankshaft to the existing 351 motor to add the cubic inches. It is also possible to get 426 cubic inches from a 351 as well. They still say 351 with it so buyers know it is for an original 351 type application. For motor mounts, accesories, etc.

One other note just to make things really confusing. Ford did make a 351M engine. Mostly for trucks. I also believe there was an old FE style 392 motor. Mostly for heavy trucks. Kind of a coincidence but just wanted to make sure you weren't referring to those old engines vs. the newer (better) Windsor style motors.

Could also bore it and stroke it at the same time. 500+ cubes with a larger bore would in all likelyhood be possible.

damn thats one hell of an engine. Just curious, what kind of heads and intake do you have and wat amounts of hp does it produce. And im guessing its in the 12-11 second range rite? (with drag radials on)
