I've found the vert top is pretty maintenace free, enjoy it!

Keep it clean, don't put the top down when it's wet because that could cause mildew to start, and NEVER put stuff like Armor-All on the top! It might look good the day you applied it, but eventually it becomes an even bigger dust magnet & the stuff can even make the material brittle over time

Thanks for your response, but having had a vert (RX7 Turbo )in the past i was aware of how to maintain a vert top .I was more intrested in  things like is it possible to put in an powered antenna as i feel the Mustsang  fixed antenna detracts from the look of the car.Any other mods you feel i should incorporate ?

You can put a power antenna in a fox body I know for a fact (I have a book with the instructions and part numbers that I have been tearing my apartment apart looking for).  Don't go through "laser washes") that use the high power water to get the dirt off (BUt I'm guessing you knew that one).  other then that they are pretty much common sense stuff, and enjoy.

Man ,the battery went and i had Gods own time getting a battery that would fit,if it was the right height it was too narrow to clamp down,if it was ok in height and ok in width it was too long .Dealer finally came up with one that would fit.
The joys of being a new owner!

Please tell me that Mustangs are better than this     Had the car 3 weeks and in that time it has needed a new clutch cable ,a battery and when starting the car after the clutch cable change i noticed  oil in the floor and lo and behold it is coming from the oil cooler housing, bloody thing has a porisity defect in the wall of it and is pumping oil out over the floor when it is running!   Tell me it gets better than what i have experienced so far.

Damn, I feel bad for you. Perhaps the last owner wasn't very nice to it ? Keep up on all regular scheduled maintenance and you should be good to go.

yeah mustangs arent usually that bad.  But you have to remember, many cobras have a rough life with owners that don't know too much about cars and just run them down

Well my stang has over 340,000 miles on it and she has little problems from time to time, but with this many miles and years that is expected.  She went 200,000 miles and only had to replace the water pump, and the radiator when it got a hole from a rock (Rock was still in the fins when I notided it.  And the motor was rebuilt at 220,000 when the compression finally started to go, but that is alot of miles for any engine.  Overall my stang has gone pretty far, but she still needs to just be taken care of and I hope to be driving her when I die.

Yea it sucks if you buy a used car & find out the previous owner was just plain careless in maintaining the car   I've been lucky with THIS car but have had others in the past where the original owner was an idiot.

3rds on previous owner crap.  I bought this POS jetta ($100, it ran, and I was broke) were the previous owner had used a drinking staw to replace a section of the windshield washing hose that was missing.
