Has anyone tried any of these and are they safe?

Would dry ice damage paint?

Would that stuff damage the engine?

I know repair shops that use dry ice to remove dents. They actually use a black light to find them first and, yes, they use dry ice to pop out dents. There's one place that did it to my sisters car after a hail storm.

I wouldn't know about the other thing.

Everything about doubling your mpg seems like it'd work. But I don't know about putting acetone in the tank. That sounds like it'd f^^^ something up. It'd probably burn up your fuel injectors or something. Maybe eat up the rubber stuff in/on the fuel line.

By the way, I think acetone is used in nail polish remover.

Yeah, it is. Apparently it helps with the ignition of gasoline or something. I would totally try it, but my luck I would f up and need a new engine. If gas hits $4.00 a gallon this summer, Im trying it though.

I hear ya on that one! It's probably something like an octane booster but in pure form, not "watered-down" like the octane booster stuff.

I will do the dry ice thing tomorrow. Im glad you showed us that, my wifes poor car has dents all over it from hail [:(] Never happened in California!!!

As for the fuel additive, I dont think I will be trying that any time soon.

Gas is $2.89 in Springfield Missouri right now.
Some places are at 3.09 right now.

I have a theroy about the acetone. I think it has some thing to do with the oxygenation of the gas, maybe removing it?

There are several types of acetone, Industrial , is used in making large amounts of chemicals, and as a feed stock. Humans make it when they are starving.
As a fuel additive it would probably be ok, but , and that is a Big Butt, what it would do to the seals on the fuel injectors or the fuel pump or the fuel line that is not steel, is a guess. Maybe any car than can run E85 would be safe for acetone, but I wouldn't use it on older vehicles.
acetone, is an oxidizer, meaning it carries it's own oxygen, Like Nitro methane or Nitrous. The chemical formula C3H6O  means it will burn very rapidly, the "O" will help.
If your going to try this, don't use to much, What you are really doing is increasing HP and by doing this use less gas peddle and less gas. Your engine still needs the right air/fuel ratio to run,

where i am it is around 1600 won, or $1.75, per liter. and the Koreans drive like maniacs. they don't have gas pedals, it's an On/Off switch.

Acetone is safe, in the right percentage. It doesn't hurt any of the seals or anything, I mean it's a nail polish remover, but gasoline will strip paint too. It's simply an atomization tool, which as we all know, increased atomization equals incresased performance. The fuel burns better, less is used, engine doesn't work as hard, therefore you end up with increased gas mileage.

The danger is only present when you put in too much. no more than 3oz per 10gal in your tank, but you're supposed to work your way up starting at 1oz per 10 gallons.

But then, You might put E85 in a carburetor engine?  Each manufacturer put in different seals and the material that the seals are made of react differently with different chemicals. Put a rubber seal in some alcoholic and see. put some gas in a Styrofoam cup.

well i dunno, the seals is what i am really worried about, i just had to replace a fuel pump and it wasnt fun so i would like to keep my fuel system runnin for a while but i would also like to try this out

Yeah, it seems that if it worked so well, everyone would be using it. Im not sold on it yet. Maybe Ill try later.

Hmm. Both cool finds, I might try it, but I want someone else to fcuk up their fuel system first.
