the car originally had 14 inch whee/tire combo, now its rockin a 15 inch combo bf goodrich radial T/As with mag 500s, i thought this made it read slower, if its readin fast....damn i was haulin  (im pretty sure it reads fast though)

Yeah, think about it. The taller the tire, the more time it takes to turn one full turn, therefore if the speedometer gear has not been changed, then you are going over 120  when the speedo reads 120.  Ask your dad if he changed the speedometer gear on the transmission when he put those 15 inch tires on it.

soaring, if the car has high gears like maybe 390s or 410/11s would that throw it off too?

"Dad, does the Mach have taller tires or a different than stock rear end ratio?"
"Why, yes it does Son...why do you ask?"
"Hmmm...I dunno...It just seems like it got to 120 before it should have...."

Yeah..do that

"dad, the car got to 70 faster than i thought! does it have taller tires?"

Gotta love those CJ's. Just be careful Emp. They are a littel heavy up front. These things love to melt tires. Just spray the rear quaters with "Pam" and the evidence peels right off. Works for cooking eggs too.

Speaking of CJ's, what is the main difference between a 1972, 351 4 barrel Cleveland and a Cleveland Q code, CJ? Also how much less does a 351 weigh than a 429 or 428?
Thanks,
ceswert

well it would give you a good excuse to speed if a cop sees you. just tell em you have different gears and bigger tires and it throws you speedo way off.

god i hope your not wanting to street race
