I tried searching, but failed terribly. Do any detailed instructions for removing the dash and doorpanels on my '99 GT with Mach460 exist on the forums already?
Failing that, there's 2 screws under the HU that go straight up, must these be removed first? After that, what holds the trim/dash panel on?
For the door panels, I've figured out how to get the plastic panels which have the window & lock controls out, after what's the next step?
For the door panel, you have to take the cover off the tweeter(just pull out). There should be a bolt, maybe 2 that hold that up and remove that. After you have removed the plastic armrest thing there should be at least one screw holding that in if i remember. Then there is a push pin on the side of the doorpanel closest to the engine at the bottom. Remove that and grab door panel by the sides and pull it up and out. If you have disconnected all the electrical it should pull straight off. Install is reverse of removal but it can be kinda tricky so make sure to get everything on right! Eric
OK, first off, thanks, I got everything successfully taken apart, I just can't get the Mach460 tweeter pod, off, or even apart.
Does the grille come off it? How exactly do I get it off? From your explanation I guess you just pull the grille straight off? I'll give it another shot tomorrow.

its is basically a plastic piece that is wrapped with that mesh type cloth so i infered that some of the glue that held the mesh to the plastic was keeping th grill bonded to the other housing. I think i used a small screwdriver and pried it off really slowly not to break anything. You have to break that initial bond and then it pops off easy like it is suppose to.
start at the top corner of the triangle. Push down(toward the floor) on the top of the corner that is covered with mesh and then wiggle it off. Do the same for the other 3.
Ok, great, thanks, I'll try that out tomorrow afternoon.
Also, I was wondering about the speaker setup in the rear.
Where the 2 amps are attached on either side, they're on either side of this massive composite plastic "box" type thing, is this a resonating chamber for the rear 6x8s? I'm replacing the ENTIRE stereo in my car, so do I just undo the bolts, lower the plastic chamber down, then replace the components and put it back in place?

well yes and no. If you are replacing the factory 460 speakers then you will also need to replace your deck and do some re-wiring. Ford uses some funny impedences in the 460 speakers so you cannot simply throw another one in.
I'm replacing EVERYTHING, I already have the deck, and all the wiring in. I'm waiting on my new components, then I'll finish the install.
My only problem remaining is getting the grille of those pods, and figuring out how to remove the Mach460 composite plastic massive box thing under the rear "dash"...

there are a couple of bolts holding it up from inside the trunk. Check out page 2 of my sig to see how I did my install. I kept the speakers but replaced the deck. There should be a bypass hrns in the dash that you will need to use rather then the one that was plugged into the back of the stock radio.
