Default steering wheel issues

Thanks for the info before, on my steering wheel post. I am just strting the work and am down to the turn signal cam.
Here ar pics. The red flaky stuff is copper filings from the erosion of this copper thing here.

Does anyone know if there is an adjustment, and what the purpiose of this copper thing is?

thanks for that. Is there a positional adjustment on the ring? obviously one is on edge and the other seems fine?

they should both fit flush with the plate? that they make contact with,,if they don't it'll tear up the plate and the post(s)? that your looking at,,learned it the hard way ,,once that plate? gets chewed up it's worthless cause even if you get the posts? to sit flush they'll get hung up on the ruts/pits etc

Thanks guys and gals!

It truly is amazing. I had a bunch of work done by some really good mustang mechanics in san diego, and still things other people do are never done with the same care as you do for yourself.

All fixed, now I can hear all the other rattles and squeaks.
