I dont know much about values on older mustangs but my friend told me he would sell me the rolling chassis of a 69 1/2 mustang boss for 1000 dollars. It originally had the 351 with dual quads in it but it threw a rods and junked the block .
should i buy it

Can't tell you without a whole bunch more information. How about the rust? Does it still have a good tranny and differential? Is the interior decent? How about the paint job? Does it have nice wheels and tires? If all of the above are in good shape, and there is no body damage, then it would be a steal. About 5 grand later, then you will have a nice ride. However, I doubt the answer to the above is that everything is hunky dorey.

I was under the impression that there were 2 boss models in 69-70 body style - the Boss 302 and the Boss 429

The Boss351 was a 1971-3 body style car...so I am confused about a half year model with a 351 and dual quads being a boss.

I'd be suspiscious about the whole deal...I've never heard the term 69 1/2 boss and it wouldn't have originally had a 351.
What is the body code? It may just be a fastback and there's nothing wrong with that. 63A was fastback, 63C was Mach1, don't know for the Bosses...

Im 19 years old in not really sure of old school mustangs. Im just repeating what the guy said about it . I did look up some stuff on it since it was a half year they did have a 351 in it ,dont quote me on it but i think the put the 351 out in 70 so they might of put it on a half year. Of coarse I could be totally wrong ,I was just kind of wondering if i would be worth as much without the numbers matching motor.

You could get a 69 and a 70 with the 351, that is not the issue.
The issue is it wasn't a boss if it came with a 351 in 1969 OR 1970.

Get a rubbing of the data plate from the door so that you can know exactly what it is...and the vin, it will give you the engine code.

Just to echo what's been said, there was no 69 1/2. There were only three Boss cars, the 302 and 429 both in 69 & 70, and the 351 in 71. Also, there were no dual quad set-ups available from the factory. As 69mach has suggested, decode the VIN to find out exactly what you have.

It's a 69 Mustang for $1,000! Who care if its a 691/2 or a boss or 351motor or what.

Well horseshoeing, I would care for one.
I wouldn't want to buy something that I was told it was when it wasn't. In this case, the kid thought he was getting some very rare car that he could put some money into and then it would be worth a lot. When in fact he probably just has a 69 fastback...or at most a 69 Mach1.
In 69 and 70, the only Boss engines available were the Boss 302 and Boss 429. In 69 the Mach1 was available with a 351w...along with many other motors as well. In 70, you could get a Mach1 with either a 351c or a 351w...again as well as other motors. In 71, emissions standards and the beginning of a gas crunch caused Ford to stop offering a big block in the Mustang. And all of the motors started getting detuned. Ford took a 351c and did some mods to it, put it into a mustang and called it a Boss351. Gone were the Boss 302 and the Boss 429.
There was no such thing as a 69 1/2 Mustang. There was also no such thing as any engine from Ford from the factory that had dual carbs in a Mustang.

i wuldnt care if it was just a regular fastback. they r still rarer than the modern stangs and kickass!!!!

I'm with the concensus here----No such thing as a 69-1/2 Boss. However, if you like the car, and there's not much rust, buy it. I just don't want you to buy this thinking you have a rare car. Good luck with it.

If it doesn't have rust I'd say its worth the 1000. I'd buy it for 1000. I saw a 69 coupe rolling chassis for over a thousand.
