Always been a bunch of versions of the mustang. Almost all the ford/shelby versions had been released in the past.

Gee, another overpriced, adm'ed to death, unattainable car with the build quality and interior from a 20K dollar bread and butter car. Wooptidoo.

All sarcasm aside. It looks awesome. But really does nothing for ford . They love to build cars that no one can go and buy, touch and own.

When one can walk in to chevy (ZO6), porsche or BMW and actually buy a car for a reasonable buck compared to MSRP without jumping through hoops and kissing salespersons asses, why bother with ford's games???

It is not that they have this unbelievably better product. It is all their marketing BS and forced supply.

I love my 06, and it treats me well. But I had to cut through dealer bs for a few weeks while being lied to by many dealers (including having an ordered car sold out from under me) to get it a smidge under MSRP.

And when a customer with money in pocket is interested in buying a GT500 at ONLY sticker, and willing to wait for an ordered car, and you allow dealers to turn away sales, you are playing with a half deck.

Sure, ZO6's are in high demand too, and ones on the dealer lots are about 5K above sticker which is not too bad if you have to have a car now. But a dealer will order you one at MSRP or below and in 4 months or so your car comes in.

Says the upgrade price hasn't been set, but should be in the $10-12K range(highly doubtful considering the S/C change, 6 piston Baer brakes and suspension upgrades), but the customer has to supply their GT500 in the first place(so anyone with cash to burn and a GT500 to mod can have one).
One can dream, right? Lotto anyone?

I think it's cool.  Think of the concept cars Chrysler has built in the last decade or so that turned into limited-production models.  I think Ford is letting Shelby/Saleen/et al do the same thing for them.  The Super Snake just adds to the press coverage and consumer interest in Mustangs and Fords in general.

That's why they build them.  Shelby makes money on the cars, but Ford makes money on all the cars that are sold because of the attention that the Shelby Mustangs get.  It's not about letting consumers get their hands on a car like that - that's what V6's and GT's are for.  This is an auto show concept car, except that it gets more attention.

All these special edition Mustangs are too limited. Ford desperately needs to build an "aquireable" SE Mustang. I pray for the Boss, Bullitt and Mach 1 to be "aquireable". Why does Ford do this 1000 and less unit BS!!!

I like the KR better.  That's just enough HP for me

But either way, I'll never own one or maybe even see one.  It's really not fair that they make so many versions of our car that the average joe couldn't even possibly afford.    Which is why I'll stick to upgrading mine in the future.  Oh well...

You definately cannot buy a Z06 or Porsche without paying ridiculous prices... Boxsters start at 49k right? find one at a dealer fo under 60...

Ive seen used Z06s for way more than msrp...

Oh and the super snake looks awesome!

I would love to know if shelby motors will be offering a super snake package for the current gt500 owners, or is this just going to be offered as a total package at the ford dealers (then we are totally screwed). Can you say aftermarket

the motortrend ad says all you have to do is send off your GT500 to shelby and about 10 grand and you will get a supersnake out of it...kind of like what hennessy was doing with the vipers.
