I had the most horrific day of my life last weekend when a SUV crashed into my 2001 GT mustang. I survived the crash with no problems, but the car was totaled. I am now stuck driving my old 92 stang until I take my insurance settlement and purchase a new car. I am torn between the two following options.
For $36,000 I can land a new 2004 SVT Cobra Convertible this weekend
Or
Should I look around for a 2005 GT which will probably run me around $28,000?
So do I go for the power or for the new look? Is it worth spending the extra money? Has anybody driven both?
So I want to hear some opinions!

i havent driven either. but i say go for the cobra 100%, the 2005 will be tough to get neways, and the new look isnt the most tough lookin muscle car i've seen. Cobra = da shizzy

I say go for the cobra vert. Cobras are almighty and SWEET for one, and secondly... this is the first year of the new model and it'll probably give you some problems, recalls, etc. I'd say get the snake, and if you want to get the new GT later on, you'll still make a pretty penny off the used Cobra.
F* the 05 GT. Its a pansy car. I say hit the new Cobra. I wouldnt opt for the vert though. Just cause i hate them. Oh yeah. And dont buy the 04 Competition orange Cobra. Cause i am.

Definatly go for the cheaper/faster 04 cobra
Aftermarket for them is much more strong at this point than the aftermarket for the '05. Plus, xRockThePonyx had a good point about it being the first year and recalls and stuff going wrong and all...

All cars are going to have their quirks when a new model is releases. Goes for all manufacturers. If I had the money, wait a couple of years if you have your heart set on on the new DEW Mustangs. ( DEW is the chassis codename for 05+ ) ;-)
I dont like the 05's a whole lot. I think FORD messed up....who knows maybe it will grow on me.. i doubt it though. I'll be the first one to post about 05 recalls/TSB's
