Default battery keeps dying

My battery keep dying so I decided to go get a new alternator to solve the problem....
before going to get the new alternator I did the things like checked for any weiring that may be old or fallen off and everything seemed good.
I even when as far as keeping the car running and taking off one of the battery posts "YUP it dyed"

so I got my self a new one 60amps and started the car with the new alternator and again took off the batter cable to see if the car would still run... it died again...

what could be wrong?

a wieing diagram for my 78 mustang II coupe would be nice.
