Default 95GT alarm problem

hey guys, im new here, my name is chad, i just bought a 95 Gt convertible with the love it or hate it red leather interior. i am having an alarm problem with the car. when i lock the car doors and try to unlock them from the outside with the key, my alarm goes off and i cant start the car or anything. i have to pull the battery terminal off to reset the alarm. i have a theft light in the dash that blinks while the alarm is going off. the car didnt come with one of those key chain clickers to enable and disable the alarm. is there any way i can bypass the alarm so i can lock my doors and not have the alarm go off when i unlock them? or do i need to buy a key chain clicker from a dealership? sorry for the long post. thanks chad

I'd get the keyless entry remote from the dealership then you wouldn't have to worry about using your key at all. If you have a convertible, you might want to consider getting a proximity sensor for it as well. I had one installed on my car so when I engage the alarm with the top down, if you reach into the car, the alarm goes off. Has come in quite handy.

Good Luck with your alarm.

look under the drivers side dash and follow all the wires to the alarm brain and see if you can tell what brand it is. Is there a switch under the dash?

alright, so i looked under the dash for the valet button. i read somewhere that i was supposed to turn the key over and hold that button til the LED light in my dash went solid and that would disenable the alarm. well i cant find that button. anyone know where it is? i have no clue what the brain box looks like. this is my first mustang, so hang with me here. are there any specific colored wires or location of where this box should be? the kid before me had one of those keyless entry clickers but he said he couldnt get it to work. is there any type of fuse that i can pull to make this stop? i dont really need the alarm, just would like to be able to lock and unlock my doors. thanks

I can't tell ya where the button is or if there is one. It could be anywhere and it could be nowhere if the installer didn't install it. As for the wire colors that again is hard to say depending on brand. It could be anything but the most common would have yellow, red, black, orange, white, brown as well as a bunch of stripes. Look at the firewall for the wire that goes through to the siren under the hood and follow it back under the dash to the brain.

AS you said to put a dei alarm(most common type)in valet you will need to put the key in the ignition, push the button(it is normally just a small black momentary push button 1/4") and hold it, then turn the ignition off and release the button.

If you can see a yellow wire with a fuse in it you should be able to pull it and not loose anything other then the alarm. The only alarm that will keep the starter kill with power off is clifford and they are not used a whole lot.

no luck with finding the valet button, however i think i have a factory alarm system cause the horn sounds and my lights blink as the alarm goes off. if that means anything. i found the anti-theft module in the rear trunk. i unplugged and the alarm quit working, but i couldnt start the car. its been raining so i havent been able to trace the wire from under the hood to under the dash, but i should be able to do that tomorrow if its nice.

just a follow up on this post, it turns out that my stang didnt come with keyless entry. it has an alarm but no keyless entry. i have not been able to find a disabling button. but what u can do to stop the alarm from going off when u unlock your doors with your key is to, find the green wire with a purple stripe in the rear of the trunk on the drivers side. the wire plugs into the anti theft module. once the green wire with purple stripe is found, strip the wire back and ground it with an equal size wire. this will disable the alarm and allow u to unlock your doors without the alarm going off. i am working on hooking up a toggle switch to the ground wire, so you can still use the alarm but flip the switch to shut the alarm off after you opened the car door. more info on this after i try it. hope this helps fellow stang owners out.

find the brain and it will be easier to program a new remote then it would to do all this.

You want to set off your alarm and then turn it off?

yes. if you figure out what brand it is(by finding the brain) you can buy a remote and program it to the alarm. it is normally pretty easy.
