Default wheels & tires

Since I'm new to the whole 05+ Mustangs and know pretty much all I need to know about my 01 GT, I figured I would ask this question about my 05 GT. I know the stock tires are 235/55/17 and the rims are 17", so if I wanted to upgrade to say 17" deep dish bullitts or 18" deep dish bullitts, what size tire or what size rims would I need. I know on my 01 GT that they are 245/45/17 and 275/40/17's will fit on the stock rim, and if I wanted deep dish bullitts on it I would buy 17x10.5 inch rims with 315/35/17 tires, so I'm just trying to figure out the sizes with these new stangs. Would my 245/45/17" bullitts on my 01 GT fit the 05, or no? Thanks

Your 245/45-17on Bullittswould bolt up to your S197, but those tire are about 2 inches shorter than the stock S197 GT rubber(gonna look Ghetto-fabulous). S197s need at least 18" wheels to look nice when lowered, in fact 20"s are even cooler(IMO). Look up the wheels at American Muscle, they have plenty of pics of S197s(V-6 & GT) with 18"s, 20"s and maybe the occasional 17" wheel. They have the recommended tire sizes for each specific wheel size.......good luck[8D]

Thanks man. I wasnt gonna take my bullitts off my 01 GT and put them on the 05, I was just wondering if they work. I was just alittle confused because I know the 05 GT's come with 235/55/17's, and if I was looking for rims I didnt know if I needed 17x9 or 17x10 or what, so I was just lookin for an answer before I bought and they didnt fit. I probably will upgrade to 18's, but will the 18x10.5 bullitts work out back along with 18x9 bullitts in the front, or am I wrong here? Thanks

Ok thanks. But where do you get 285/40 and 255/45 tires? I think I'm just so used to the 245/45/17 and 315/35/17 from the 99-04 GT's that the new ones have me confused.

I am sure the tires of any size you choose will fit but I think the spacers used for the 01 rims is drastically different than the 05's. Check with discount tire or belle tire first!
