I just bought some q-logic kick panels and speakers for my 01 Mustang Gt. I was wanting to know if I can tap into the the output off the 460 amps to get a signal for my new amp. SO instead of trying to hook up RCA cables from the 460 headunit back to get a signal.(Which I dont think I can) I want to get a signal off of the factory amps. What should I need to do this?
Any help would be appreciated. I am looking to get started asap.
If you are going to be wiring up an amp I would tell ya to get the signal before the amp as the stock amps are very dirty. If you get the signal after them you amplifity their noise and it generally sounds bad. Now that I think about it the amp is under the deck anyway, you would be better off getting the signal at the deck. And now this is easier said then done as you will not need a line out converter as the signal is already a low level rca signal. You will need to splice an rca into the factory hrns, are ya good at soldering?

Chris,
Here is what I did with my Mach 460 system and it came out sounding great.
First I replaced the head unit with an In-Dash DVD player, this dramatically improved the mids/highs of the Mach 460 system, but it killed the bass. The bass can be put back with a Line Driver that I think you can purchase pretty cheap.
Instead of the Line Driver, I added 2 10's in the trunk with a 2 channel amp that pushed 170 watts to each channel. A lot of the guys here can give you some great advice on subs/amps for a really cheap price.
The system came out sounding great. I know it doesn't answer your question, but I was told by several different installers that the Mach 460 system is a real pain in the ass to mess around with and it's usually easier to just remove the entire system and start from scratch, but some of the guys here will definitely disagree.
there is a data link you can buy that plugs into your harness, just can't remember where to find it at. I am looking for it too, I'll let you know when I find it. I'm thinking Best Buy sells them. The plug is in your trunk under deck lid, it plugs into it and then you'll have to run power wires, but the plug will give you RCA plugs.
