That is beautiful, I know where there is a 65 deluxe just sitting, I can buy it with a 289, and another 289 sitting on a stand for 900.00. But it will need a ground up resto. I hate being broke. Great buy, very clean pony.

it is a 289 right? because then its a gt

Not necessarily. The GT Equipment Group, as it was called, was not available until April 1965. It was available for all 3 body styles and only with the 225 hp (A code) and 271 hp (K code) 289 V8. According to your VIN, you have the A-code 225 hp 289, which was available beginning in August 1964. The only way to tell if your car is an original Mustang GT, without the original documentation, is to look at the date code. If you car has R, S, T, U, or V for the month code (April thru August 1965), then there is a good chance that it's a real GT.

Just so you know, your VIN breaks down as follows:
5 = 1965
R = San Jose, CA
07 = 2 door Mustang coupe
A = 225 hp 4-barrel 289 V8
226728 = Consecutive unit number
