Default 2003 Mustang

I have an intermitten problem. When stopping at a light, the Mustang continues to rev at about 3000 rpm. Hard to hold back and have to hold the brake way down. Then a smell developed like a burning smell. This has happened a few times but not always. Help!

maybe your throttle is geting stuck since it doesnt happen all the time.
