Default biggest tire

I am running the stock 17 inch rims and I was wondering if I could put 285\45R17 on these rims. I got the Nitto 555's and they seem a lot narrower then the goodrich comp t\a's i had. These tires were 255\50 17. The reason I want to know about the 285's is because they are the same diameter as stock.

Default RE: biggest tire

it'll fit on but too wide by recommended specs... the stock 17s are only 8" wide.... a 285 really needs a 10" rim
